Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase a Philips Senseo coffee machine and the relevant coffee pods in the Algarve

Not seen the Senseo but places like Worten and Box at Jumbo have dozens of espresso makers from about €50 to€500 http://www.worten.pt and look for Maquina de cafe expresso. I remember being told recently that the Philips Senseo machine is given free to students in Holland because the company makes its money on the excesive mark up on the coffee pods that are only made by them

We tried to find the pods. No luck. We 'imported' the Senseo from Holland and till further notice we do the same with the pods. Maybe we could ask Makro, to purchase machines and pods.

Senseo was developed by cooperation between Philips and Douwe Egberts. Philips registred the machine, Douwe Egberts didn't with the pods.
Everybody can bring the pods on the marked, and some coffee-roasting houses do so. But I think, because "Senseo" is registred, they need the autorisation of Philips to relate their product to Senseo.

As far we didn't find any pods, not even in specialised shops.
So we do the same as DaGi, waiting for Philips interest in the portuguese market and an eventual cooperation with Delta etc.

Have seen both the machine as well as the pods in a little supermarket in Lagos. It is called 'Mais Alguma Coisa?' (or in dutch; 'Anders nog iets?') and is specialized in mainly dutch products.
Location; find the Lidl at the roundabout in the centre of Lagos, take the street opposite from Lidl, shop is after some 200mtrs on your left hand side.

Thank you Rob F for your information. We shall be back out to CVO in September and will definately be taking a trip to Lagos to find 'Mais Alguma Coisa'. We know that we can bring a machine with us from the UK but it is easier if we can buy 'locally' and get the refil pods.
