I had one of these http://www.bsa-brian.fsnet.co.uk/bsa_su ... tcard_.JPG I couldn't afford a lambretta. Yes, that is me on the scooter, mine looked much smarter as I removed all the bodywork. Cool or what. I used to fall off it a great deal, mostly on corners.

Dangerous things parkas, with hood up could not see a thing and with all those toggles , once shut them in car door and was dragged down the road to much amusement of car occupants and passing pedestrians.

Still much better than being a greaser !!!

I don’t know the answer to that coop old boy, but back in little England in the late 60’s I know if you didn’t have a lammy then forget it! but you’d be ok if you wore a parka and at least one of your friends rode a lammy …. and all the nice girls loved you 8)

Oh no Cowboy, aren't they like armchairs for old guys? Am I treading on dangerous ground now?

"Vespa" means "wasp" in Portuguese and Italian...is that of any relevance?

Hmmm...perhaps the horse might be the best option. I met a girl recently, who travelled as passenger on her boyfriend's Harley from England to the Algarve. She had to stop and buy a big, soft cushion in France cos her derriere got a trifle sore!!!

  Bruxhy I'm sure I'd need a big cushion like your friend....my derriere is getting bit tender in middle-age!..maybe comfort is taking priority over excitement..
oh lord..I hope not..
Maybe I do need that 'armchair on wheels' :? ..

I rest my case.

Harleys will pound your butt....
(gives new meaning to "No Butt, No Putt"....)

Gold Wings won't.

And you don't have to carry a full tool kit with you to get around the block.

Or, as I once wrote on the bathroom wall at Beverley's (a local Harley bar in Austin)

"Harleys will score you chicks, but Hondas will get them home"

(I left right after I wrote that)

Harleys have a great image, (and a wonderful sound like no other), but you can get beat up on on a road trip on a Harley....

If I had a Harley, I'ed use it to pick up chicks.....

If I wanted to go on road trip, I'ed use a Gold Wing.

Point taken Cowboy :)

I have an English mate here, who says Harleys are just tractor engines and can only go in straight lines. I am sure he is right but the sound of those big machines...nothing quite like it :D

Ah yes, the Harley sound....nothing like it in the world.

You could start up a dozen bikes, and if one of them is a Harley, you could easily pick it out blindfolded just by the sound.

This is how a Harley gets that sound......
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question325.htm

The problem is that an engine designed that way produces a LOT of vibration...that is why it is helpful to know how to work on a Harley.....the moter literaly shakes it's self apart.
