Definately get yourself up to Silves and make LIDL your first stop and stock up with water, fruit and veg and salad stuff, Washing up liquid and washing liquids etc. When you leave there go onto Modelo Supermarket and buy the rest. You will save 25% on what you would have spent at Intermarche and while you are at both places you will meet many CVO Restaurant and Bar owners doing the same thing.

These are where all the locals shop and they must know something

not to meontion having a nice "cheap" beer, wine or Macieira at Snackbar "Paragem" (at real -not inflated - prices) right across from the Taxi stand and bust stop, and the ancient Ponta Romana. Sit back relax and watch the world go by. Bliss.

Itought I had explained it quite well...:?

It's just this site of the market, sort of in the "well" when you walk from Lidl towards the market, past the plaza with the fountains and statues. Across from the river , the taxi stand and the bus stop.

Maybe this will help.

As I recall, when you cross the river, you turn right and drive along a ways, watching for the LIDL sign on your left.

Unfortunately, as I recall, you can't get at it directly from this street along the river.

You go to the intersection after you see the LIDL sign, turn left and, in effect, double back a block or two to the parking lot entrance on your left. (It may be that the road takes a sharp turn right there or there's a stop sign there. I can't recall.)

Good luck. It's a good store.

There's also one in Ferragudo, after driving thru town towards Portimao, just before you turn left to go across the bridge to Portimao. Instead of going trhu the light, turn right into the LIDL parking lot.

When you cross the bridge to Silves, turn left and follow the road round. Modelo is then on your right

Supermercado Plus is very similar to Lidl, not really somewhere to do a week's shopping, but good value for certain items. It's not as big as Intermarche, it does have a fresh meat counter and a bakery counter but no deli.
