In Turkey water and electricity outages are frequent and have now become a part of what's expected on holiday there.

Well? Is there water coming from your taps this evening folks?
Did they restrict it between six and nine?

No cuts yet - the municipal authorities decided to close all the public swimming pools, cut off fountains, beach showers, public garden irrigation and "street washing" first (from tomorrow) and will reappraise at a meeting on 8th August (allegedly trying still to avoid cutting domestic supplies).

However right or wrong these decisions turn out to be with the benefit of 50/50 hindsight, the municipal authorities were hoping to try NOT to send a negative message to the tourist community on which the region depends so much.

We have seen on here previous concerns that our dinners or the ability to shower whenever we wish, may be disrupted by water supply cuts and so on - so "I may have to go somewhere else".

Given the ability to predict in March that there would still be no rain perhaps they would have considered a different approach but Mystic Meg is not a member of the council (I think she lost her deposit !).

I agree with what you say that Harry Hindsight is a great friend, but we were in Cvo in April , May and again in June, and it was pitifully obvious that conditions were particularly arid this year and soem form of water savings or restrictions would be needed. These did not have to directly affect the tourist industry and could have started with precisely what they are doing now ie restrictions on car wash, beach showers, and council usage ( quiet where they are going save on road cleaning I am not sure, as I do not recall the street where we are ever being treated to a wash and brush up.However, we are we are, and I can only hope that the Autumnal rains come early and last throughout the winter months to replenish the reservoirs AND, Mystic Meg or Harry Hindsight apply for and get jobs at the Town Hall.
