Very well put - I have been saying this for a long time - and will continue to do so.
We are very regular visitors to Julios over a great many years and in his previous venture - we visit his restaurant about 12 times a year and we too have been seated close to the BBQ on occasions and Nicola is absolutely right - you do see the food being cooked from fresh and pleasing it is too.
There are always tables of gob-shites in there - so what. In Nicola's case they were the 'cabaret' during her visit - that's the way it should be. You go there to have an enjoyable evening and not find fault with the place or its clientele.
My Wife took 3 friends to Cvo recently and dined at Julios during their stay. As they were about to leave it started to rain (a very unusual occurence) - without any prompting, Julio gave his car keys to one of the waiters and offered the Ladies a drive home.
On a similar note - we recently took a booking for our villa from a family who wanted a villa withing walking distance of Julios. They have been coming to Cvo for 5 years and believe Julios is the best restaurant anywhere. They are staying for 2 weeks and have booked Julios for every other night - I have seen their e-mail to Julio making the arrangements.
Julio will certainly have our custom for as long as he wants it.

This topic has been going on now for nearly a year - what fantastic publicity for Julio 
I think one can only relate to the old adage " you can please some of the people all of the time and please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time"
In the case of the waiter perhaps substitute 'humour ?' for 'please'.
A quandary for the poor restaurateur - who gets priority - the regular who supports you all year or the newcomer you hope to impress and become a regular ?

In reply to Mike's comment regarding this long running 'saga', I can only hope that as a regular, all of those who share his opinion take their business elsewhere and leave those of us who appreciate good food, good company and a wonderful ambience - to have it all to ourselves.
We will then be in the company of like minded people and not the 'doom and gloom' brigade, who will find fault regardless.
However, I can't help wondering why it is that a business that does its very best to create an environment of cleanliness and efficiency that results in considerable success has to have its 'detractors'. No other restaurant in Cvo (since I have subscribed to this forum) has attracted such negative attention.
Is there an anti-Julio lobby out there hell-bent on 'knocking' his establishment or is it simply the old 'ENVY' adage - I suspect we will never know.....

Well, after all this debate, I succumbed and went there last week.
Not a great start when I went in in person to book. I was told that a party of 14 were arriving at the same time, so how about coming a bit earlier. "Thanks for the warning", I said. "Oh no" he replied "its easier for US". I thought I was the customer, so even if that were true, why didn't he just leave it the way I said it.
Anyway, the following eve we arrived on time. Service was very attentive. Orders taken promptly; plates cleared quickly; wine poured profusely; ashtray emptied immediately. Maybe something to do with the fact that I was there with 28 year old daughter and 24 year old niece both dressed in very skimpy outfilts ready for a big night out (without me) later. In fact their comments were that the meal was over too quickly. No time to relax between courses.
It was quite full that night. We noticed a lot of hand shaking between regulars and staff. Obviously a lot of repeat visitors, but I got a sense that many of these encounters were a bit false and that it was part of the "show" and that actually the staff didn't really recognise the punters, but the punters loved the apparent special attention.
Oh, and we ate some food too. Thats about all I can say about that. It was ordinary. Not bad, not memorable, not great. Each of us tried different fish dishes and we swapped tasters, so my comments are not based on one dish only. The girls agreed.
So, Graham, by all means give it a try. But don't pretend that I recommended it
