just back from carvoeiro

Post by Guest »

was very disappointed with some of the meals i recieved in carvoeiro, you are much better going to silves are portimao for a meal,i went to two resturants on the main street and they were both totally different meals to that of what i recieved when i was there in april no doubt will be worst next month so not even trying them in july when im there will stick to portimao and silves, try the black pig its fantasic as long as your not a veggie, all i can say is roll on mid next month again for another 10 days of heaven and barrels of super bock, cintra and fine red wines, also for folk which like there cakes and buns try the bakery counter in the pino doce stores in portimao they are fantasic and so cheap,oh and super bock is on offer there too six bottles for less than 2 pounds in are money 8)

What a shame. Moderation gone mad. Do you really expect a measured response to this thread. If you did why didn't you give it?

Have to agree with guest on this one Gambrinus.Trifle brusque arent we?
Is there no sway on this place anymore? After all the way the poster (a guest) wrote the message he or she were surely asking for some lighthearted comments. After all its only a bit of fun.Are we still allowed that?

Reckon he only allows it when he is trying to be funny. At least we now know that deviations from topic will now not be tolerated, until of course it suits him

For anyone who wants to go to a decent (albeit new) forum for interesting banter rather than get punished for expressing one's views, try the Carvoeiro section on the "talkalgarve.com" forum.
Of course they have a Gambrinus, but perhaps he/she will give those people who are hoisted off a bit of a break.

Christ you people have short memories!

General is for Carvoeiro related stuff the rest goes in chit-chat, its not rocket science people.

*edit* The original post is also somthing that seems to be a real problem in Carvoeiro and maybe it deserves some serious attention rather than the six silly remarks it got within a few hours. ....but then we are all just screwing about here, so why should anybody care, right???

I agree with you about the original point G.

We have noticed the quality of the food reduces in some establishments as soon as 'the season' comes along. One of the stone steaks in particualr seems to lower its standards completely as soon as there is a lot of passing trade. Obviously we expect that when restaurants are packed to bursting the style of service received will be different, but it does appear in some cases that money is being saved by buying inferior meat and veg when there are more tourists about.

I did discuss this some time ago with Ulricht from Wolf, who stated that the wholesalers had trouble getting enough quality ingredients in peak times, and he could spend several hours every day shopping around just trying to maintain standards (which he always did).

I would be interested in others views

in portugal there is loads of freah veg ,so why in carvoeiro do they in most resturants served it out of a big catering tin, just so they can be lazy and take less time over it i suppose, one of the resturants which i went to was on the hill on the left hand side coming down fron rocha brava direction and it was totally different meal to that of april, the joke is the resturant has been there many years and they should know better 8)

I think your one tequila, two tequila.. says it all. How do many of us rate food in carvoeiro haunts when we are probably pissed as f----s before we arrive for the meal!.
