Proposed Portimao International Airport
Thanks guest - thought April 1st had been and gone. Didn't really appreciate roy4eyes connection as being new to forum but now suitably embarrassed
Will sleep easier tonight.
Now only have formula 1 track to worry about as our house is between Alvor airport and the so called proposed site for the F1 track - or is this also another wind up but we have seen this in the Resident (maybe it was 1st April issue!)
Embarrassed Milo

Its no wind up......Its been in Resident many times and also in a lot of local press....They do have a lot of licences already and the UK connection with F1 Sporting bodies.(Joint venture and Banks) ...you can walk out and see where the Track is to be as its now a Motorcross track and they race there even now.......and for PM....go talk to Portimao Camara....they will show you all the approvals so far (If you wait hours ) or go talk to 'Safe Hands' dog kennel who along with neigbours are campaigning against it (They are next door..where the car park will be ) or go to Bemposta office near Alvor where they have a full office of architects and engineers working on it ..drawings on the wall........No its real OK...but I agree It might be years (I hope) until or if it becomes reality....I dont know of any website..but the above is fact..

.....and I thought Roy was onto something thereroy4eyes wrote:local ornithologists tell me that the predatory birds will be eliminated in the construction of the runway extension leading to an increase in the sparrow/martin population which in turn eat mosqitoes which in turn eat us. Hence a more comfortable life for the increased number of tourists who will be arriving.

I still think he is.
There isn't going to be an F1 track. Don't you think if there was any chance at all the F1 web sites would be buzzing with the news? They aren't, not even a whisper.
Just an effort by some company to drum up cash and publicity. You can't just say 'I'm going to build a track and F1 will turn up', it doesn't work like that,

Don't need it my friend........retired and by the pool ..and the last thing I want is to be near another track...had 30 years of it.......and i'm one that actually apposes the thought ..........but I do agree with you that the chance of actually having an F1 race here are light years away.....but the chance of Bikes/ Saloon /Karts / F3 and up..for pactice sessions are quite real should they ever manage to build...only time will tell......a lot of time .
