Post by piglet »

Hi

I have been trying to find out whether you can use a UK TV and video in Portugal...?

Cheers

I was told that there were problems with UK TVs here but mine worked perfectly with a Sky box. It might be a different story if you simply plug in a Portuguese terrestial aerial. I plugged the terrestial aerial in via the Sky box too and got the Portuguese channels OK

some uk sets have setting in the menu to switch between differnt pal/secam/ntsc settings
you need to check your specifications of your tv set

Hi Pigs,

We tried to use our UK portable TV just to watch Portuguese programmes and it doesn't have any sound, just pictures. I think md 600 driver is right I'm afraid.

....Actually the Portuguese system PalG has a 500khz narrower bandwith both on Video and Sound.......but at 5.5 Mhz....against 6mhz on Pal I (UK standard)...I would expect most sets to work in both places....but are we getting mixed up a little here......are you talking terrestrial or vis a Sky Box...because with the latter case you will not experience any problem anyway....(I think ).......or do you want to watch local stuff in which case some sets might not work fully on the sound side.....as for the Video....I dont think you will se any fifference......but obviously 600 driver knows more about this that I ..so I stand to be corrected.....
