Is the tapas bar on the front by the beach recommended? Over on hols and fancy some tapas without having to go to Spain.

Portuguese Tapas

Have not tried this particular tapas bar in CVO but be aware Portuguese tapas is a miilion miles away from Spanish tapas. If youre looking for Meatballs, Kidneys in sherry Tortilla get in your car and drive 100kms accross into Spain and have the real thing.Perhaps one day an enterprising Spaniard with Tapas skills might just see there is a market for this delicious snack

Katherine..Ive only eaten there once (I think..) so can't recall menu but think Jim is probably right re: Tapas Spanish style....
I had their 'hot' sardines (with chillie dressing) & salad which I enjoyed..
maybe others here have more experience of the place?
Jim ..did you mean an enterprising Spaniard opening tapas bar in CVO?
You trying to start another Iberian war?(only joking   )

i've tried and enjoyed, people that are used to spanish tapas will find that it is a bit diferent, but if you have any special request just ask Cabeck the 'chef' and he'll cook you a fresh tapa....

Hi Vic..
Yes I'm the same. When Im in Algarve I simply want to be out and about enjoying the beautiful climate & scenery and above all friendly society! :)
(and it gives my eyes a good rest, which they could do with at this moment!)..
Yep..I did know about Annie & Cabek..but they are friends still I believe....bumped into Cabek whilst having 'little' drink with Ann at Safari. I like them both... but I'm not so well aquainted with Cabek.
But I will definitely be more adventurous at the Tapas bar next visit..and also try to get to visit your friends eating place out there; get some details about local 'characters'! :)
But for now...boa noite...ellie

having travelled for 50 years I wonder why some folk talk of friendly Portuguese........only one year here ..as said 50 years travelling..I have found Algarvians..hostile ..rude.ignorant and quite frankly very stupid.....whilst I find most nationalities extremely friendly courtiuous and having a bit of brainpower........where did I go wrong......was it actually moving here........or are you lot in wonder land.not travelled much and conning yourselves.......Well hows that for a bit of real debate material------and yes ..yes...If you dont like it ..get out.......I'm off....next week.....Hong Kong.....

Sev..I believe this is the same guest who has been critical for some time on here......
If so..he /she has been going to HongKong/China & recently off to Estonia!!
Do you have some sort of 'magic carpet' guest..that you can 'flit' around on? ....
I've never found much aggression in Algarve (ok maybe on the roads at times..but thats everywhere now...no more so than here in Lincs!)..
Only confrontation I had..with driver who cut us up(dangerously so) during our residency...I called him an idiot & 'doido' & he tried to 'swordfence' me with his umbrella
To my mind the Portuguese are reasonably peaceful folk.....want aggression? Visit some of the inner city centres in Uk on a fri/sat night

that guest must be the same that didn't pay his employes, and spent his money on strip joints, no wonder you've found that the locals are agressive, go and try that in honk kong or estonia and you'll have a diferent aproach, in portugal you get threatened, in them places i don't think you come out of there alive...

What the f**k has Estonia to do with this? It's a perfect country with perfect people! (They are even nicer and more friendly than some other nationalities in the rest of Europe) [the Portuguese belong to the friendly part of Europe :!: ] Don't forget: I'm half Estonian!! :x
