we are coming to carvoeiro on the 18th June and are really looking forward to it. However i have been trying to find out wether you can buy normal pasteurised milk like back in the UK i would be grateful if any one out there could advise (THE MILK IS FOR OUR 20 MONTH OLD GRANDAUGHTER).
P.S. is it really 39 degrees out there at the moment?

A lot of people seem to use the UHT milk here (always used in our house) but "fresh" milk in litre cartons (full - semi - skimmed) is readily available in the shops and supermarkets (Vigor is a well known brand name) usually in chiller cabinets.
If you are reading the temperature from the weathercam it is a bit misleading because of where the sensor is - reflected heat etc. The convention on temperatures is usually to display a shade reading - the weathercam when showing 39 is in full sun. Even so its still plenty warm enough apart from the gusty wind thats around at the moment

Thanks for the info regarding the milk it has put our minds at ease now.
As for the temperature i am glad you put me straight on that Phew!
This will be our first trip to the algarve and everything we have heard sounds great we are staying at Colina village apartments and 18th june just can't come quick enough.

Whilst we're on the subject of milk I wonder if anyone can enlighten me as to whether Soya milk is available in CVO. My wife has developed an intolerance to dairy products and as we're out there in September it would be good to know this info.

Considering the baby's 20 months, I would suggest Nestle's "leite infantil" which comes in handy cartons of 0.5l. It contains several minerals & vitamins, particularly welcome in this heat. My son is 1 year old and absolutely loves it. They even have different flavours, but I would recommend the plain one... Then there's also Mimosa (best known local brand) but for some reason my son likes Nestle better.
