i've lived here for many years and found that over the last few years June's a lot hotter than August. Maybe not hotter but a different type of heat, very heavy, soffocating, almost unbearable. A.C. will make your nights peaceful and cool, you'll be abnle to sleep right through and not wake up hot and sweaty, I think it's a must.

Personally, I don’t like a/c…… so I only use it when I have to, and would never sleep with it running! I don’t live in Algarve but further north, Lisbon and Cascais where the climate is slightly more extreme: colder in the winter / hotter in the summer. I have a/c in both my homes but never used it outside the month of August.
(Don’t think I could survive the Lisbon traffic jams without a/c in the car.)

We always stay at MD and were there in July last year-very hot weather
The apt. didn't have aircon. but we usually open windows front and back to get the breeze through and it was fine.
In our opinion these apts. are the best - very spacy, brand new kitchen fitted last time with dishwasher, washing machine - a must have if you've got messy kids
The only downside - swimming pools aren't heated and sea is usually warmer.
All depends what you want from yr. accommodation but the maids, reception staff are really helpful and friendly and we wouldnt stay anywhere else in Cvo.
Finally have never ever seen a mosquito in MD apts. and Ellie noticed this too. Often wonder what all the fuss is about from other forum members

Make sure your accommodation is supplied with pedestal fans in all the bedrooms. We find that in CVO during the early evening there is generally a cool breeze from the open windows (mozzie screens in place - I certainly get bit). However the breeze often falls during the night so just circulating air with the fans provides adequate cooling.
