I am amazed that no one has ever mentioned one of the best ( first and oldest ) restuarants in carvoeiro - O Patio.
The food is to die for and the service is the best Ihave had in the area. Lovely friendly staff - went for valentines day dinner and they had a small pot of local plant on the table for my wife to take away as a gift and presented her with a rose as we were leaving. They are givers not takers and cannot recommend them enough. Been to the Julio's and International Romas but ano patch on O Patio. Always go back. The ambience is there for you to touch and see. Old dark wooden beams and a boley hole ( large old barrell which you sit inside) up a few steps to drink your coffee and cigar. I would not eat outside as there are too many passers by going to the beach. In the winter months they light up that big old log fire with amazing hearth. Very romantic!! Once you have been inside you will not want to go anywere else. There I have done it - given away my long kept secret.

O Patio
We totally agree with you - Joao, Jorge and the team in there make you feel really welcome and despite the lateness of the hour they never rush you out the door.
We recommend it to all our friends together with Julios and while they all like it - the majority do express their surprise at the excessive cost. We are great believers in value for money and ambience and O Patio has them both it in spades.
The Monkfish rice is to die for.............

O Patio - whereabouts
It is in the square first restaurant on the right as you walk towards the Beach.
I hope you enjoy it.

O Patio Restaurant
Just got back into the UK on Saturday after a glorious weeks visit to cvo. Had a meal at O Patio twice during the week and we all thought that it was absolutely great! Staff seemed to be more friendly and jovial the second time around and the food and service was exceptional on both visits. Quite expensive but as "they" say 'you get what you pay for'!

Watch out there Lesley...I got stung ' there ..ripped off...and cant agree with lot thats said here..wasnt struck on the food that much either
Didnt like Julios one bit....food wasnt that nice..and I got cheesed off with waiters keep hovering asking if everything was okay.. didnt /wouldnt go back there(to o'patio either)
I think L'orange takes some beating food wise.
Love 'Romas'....food was very nice and lovely setting.
But..each to his own.
Wonder what charm school Julios head waiter went to

In the end we went to Casa da beef as Mike loves steak and says this is the best place for good fillet steak, I am more a fish eater or veggie. We also went to Brasserie Marina at Caramujeira, and again we had a lovely meal the service was good, yes it is more expensive than others but the quality and choice are worth it, and I couldn't find anything wrong with 'mine host' as has been posted on this review before, he was charming, and the staff good.
If you want a good 'Portugese' restaurant then we realy love Restaurant Hera on the fishermans beach at Armacao de Pera.
Happy eating

Hi all, we always go to O patio when we come out and yes the staff are grEat and always look happy to see us again, remembering which wine we drink etc. This year a friend was visiting from jersey and i took her there for lunch and my starter of prawns al guilho was fab and my sole and salad gorgeous--but she was a bit miffed with her seabass, saying how could any chef do that to a perfectly good fish!! 2 bottles of wine between us and a coffee and it was 100 euros, it was pricey but i still love it there. As ever we went to Casa do Bife and it was great--lovely huge tiger prawns and fillet steak to cook on the stone between us to make a surf and turf to die for ! YUMMY

O Patio
We had 2 meals in here during our stay in Cvo last week and both were excellent. The combination of really nice people and good food is a truly wonderful mixture.
We have been many times in the past and are delighted to vouch for their all round quality.

O Patio
We dined at O Patio twice last week and am delighted to say that the quality was as good as ever.
The price has crept up somewhat - but quality and ambience have a value and there will be no complaints from this quarter.....
