Seen just while i have ye here,i have a bit of a complaint..we were picking up the car on easter monday at faro but we had to leave it back in lisbon airport on saterday due to flights...i thought this was clear when i booked it and in a follow up phone call from yourselves but i could be wrong .When we got to faro this caused a bit of confusion and between the jigs and the reels i had to pay another 25 euro..fair enough..the car being almost devoid of all fuel(how do these guys time it so that the last of the fumes are just evaporating as they drop back the car ,they must have balls of steel) i filled it ,with the trip to lisbon in mind.The next day i got a call to say that the car would be changed for one from the lisbon fleet and would i drive it around and use up the petrol(jaysus it wouldn,t happen in ireland)any way sat morn at eight thirty we swapped the cars and guess what the new one is on the red light.
Before i go i have to say after three years this is the only blib on the screen and its a real pleasure to deal with your lads at the airport perticularly the russian?guy who even after being delayed for four hours on a saterday night still seems to find everything mildly amusing.

One thing to be aware of. When you arrive to pick up your car the company very often offer you a further insurance usually around 6-8 euros a day. This will cover you for every eventuality. We never used to take it out, but after coming to the algarve for a number of years and experiencing the driving habits, by pure luck decided to take it out last year. Thank god we did, we were hit at 40 mph and the car was written off, if we hadn't paid the extra we would have been liable for thousands. One other thing. Find out the number for the traffic police. What ever you do don't leave the scene. If you do you won't get the form from the police and your insurance will be void. The police a v helpful out there and spoke excellent english. Better pay a fews euros a day than have the worry of paying a massive excess.

This is very true Ginny, but also available is a policy that will cover you for this extra cost on the car rental. As we come out approx once a month it was going to cost a lot of money to add the 'extra' 6 - 8 euros, so for £40 a year we are totaly covered.

Also agree about not leaving the scene and always having the number of the traffic police with you, this is very important if you are unlucky enough to be involved in an accident.

For those of you that make regular trips and like me don't like paying to buy out the insurance excess have a look at http://www.insurance4carhire.com. This company provides an annual policy that covers the excess - for £49 per annum your excess is covered for any number of trips - each up to 30 days if I remember correctly. So you can cover the whole year for what you would pay to buy out the excess normally for just one trip. I have never had to claim but the press coverage seems to support it as genuine.

one point not all your cars have yellow jackets i had one the bank holiday weekend last . there was not one in the car ,i asked about one and was told it was not required yet

incedently it was the same car i first drove 2 months ago with zero miles on the clock now it has 3000 plus

i picked it up with zero petrol in and left it with a half tank and it still had half tank in this time. i did wonder that if i left it with less than half tank would i be charged [left with half tank ]

great car hire no problems otherwise and i would recomend to any one

my son and family is coming over on tues day and using your airport transfer as he does not want to drive
