I think you must mean the tapas bar next to the Carvoeiro Sol. It opened towards the end of last summer - great views from the upper terrace!

It's more like cream and burgundy, but I think it must be the same building

We went to the new chinese at MC in April.
Its okay-ish, the chicken was a bit sloppy. The owners and staff are very friendly however and its quite reasonable. Probably wouldn't go back though (and like many places in MC it was dead), anyone got any theories as to why this is so, a few years back, it was a great place to go, especially with the children, there used to be clown's and other street theatre and all the restaurants were full, is it just another victim of the decline in tourism? or is it not promoted enough?, I'm always amazed when people who have been to CVO, have never heard of it :?

Now I've read that Tricks..Ill definitely make the effort to walk up there this month! :)
Im not so keen on Chinese food but to take a look around and maybe eat there at other places..
its a year since Ive eaten up at Monte.CVO..think it was at 'McCafes' for chicken salad :?
I do like taking lunch at the 'Boteco' restaurant on clifftop at Paraiso beach? Food is quite nice but its the view I love..wonderful vista and so very relaxing 8)
Yes! I must explore more...on foot! :)

If you do go elle, you must go to the Cocktail bar, its run by Lewish (nice boy, you'll like him) He does magic tricks and gives you puzzles to do, if you get all ten right the drinks are on him. Oh and you must try his special cocktail of the day, usually a daquari. He serves popcorn with all the drinks and the dog that lives there loves it - give him a pat for me,
(the dog, not Lewish)

Is it a different cocktail each day? If I get all his questions right(all 10 of them  !)..I get it for free? :P Mind you..I could be there all night at that rate...............
Ill give the dog a pat and 'Lewish' your regards T..that right way round :?

I agree with Tricky the cocktail bar is very nice. the man who does the cocktails puts on a great show for adults and kids alike.
I think the reason that the restaurants and the area around MC are quiet is that not many people know its there, they dont advertise the place enough, maybe if the powers that be who run that area were to do more advertising (They could start on this site) the area would pick up,I have only seen advertising for holiday rentals, I think they are missing a great oppertunity. It is a great place for families with kids, the kids can play around the courtyard where there is a small fountain while the parents could while away the evening in one of the restaurants or bars in the area without worrying about kids runing into the road as all the bars/restaurants surround the courtyard so you can watch the kids at all times. I like the idea of street entertainers, you never know it could turn into a mini Covent Garden

When I was a kid, my parents used to take us up to Monte CVO quite regularly.

They use to have folklore dance evenings where they would get kids and adults to join in (have many pics of this) and music in the square as well.

It was a really nice place to go to but I am going back a good 18 years now.
