Solar panel heating for pools

I this a practical proposition, either using the power generated by panels
to heat the water or by pumping water through panels.

Have seen little evidence that this is used in the algarve.

I don't understand why there is little solar water heating at all in Portugal. Most everyone in Cyprus seems to use it.

In most cases the amount /area of solar panels needed to heat a pool makes it not a practical proposition. ( normally the area of the panels equals the area of the pool).
With regard to solar panels for water heating, lots of villas have them, 2 panels gives us all the hot water we need for a family of 4 all year. The problem is if you are not on mains water you may find bore hole water causes problems in the panels ( hard water).

why don´t you try a Solar Safe Pool Cover. They heat your pool by around 8ºC without the need for solar panels or heat pumps. Easy to use and keeps your pool clean

We have just installed solar panels for our pool. I think Jaylay is a little out on 1:1 ppol area to apenl area. Usual is about 50% panel area to pool. We have about 40% as we have alarge pool at 65M2.

In the last week. The temp has risen 6C, with the panels running four about 6 hours in athe afternoon. (Not fitted the timer yet!).

We bought panels at a great price and did the install ourselves. If you are interested then please contact.
