I realise this is not the correct place to ask, but the other forums seem to require a login. Is that so, or is it just for me.
I was merely going to reply to the car washing saga to point out that car washes actually use less water than washing with a hose, just more money. And now I can't.

Not a proper one (carwash) then. I always find it strange that dishwashers are supposed to use less water than hand washing.
The situation is serious, we have two wells (Alentejo), both are pretty dry. The big one is being dug out to see if it will flow again, else we will have to have a bore hole. Much more serious for the Portuguese neighbours who couldn't afford a borehole.
Why don't I join? Just get attacked all the time, got fed up with it.

This is interesting topic here..as we have 'Former Members' posting as Guests because they were attacked as members !
And we've also got Jake who had experienced the same thing..then he became a member and hardly ever posts!
I happen to think the water issue is a very serious one for Portugal and of some concern for you home owners?...I really thought(hoped) that there would be a lot more discussion on the forum about it..disappointing
Hope you get some much needed rainfall soon....ellie

Apparently yes, and they don't last for ever either. http://www.dep.state.pa.us/dep/subject/ ... FS2780.htm

National water authority (Instituto da Agua) posted today that due to the lack of rain in the last 15 days the drought situation has reached the "point of no return". Their words and not sure what exactly they mean but doesn't sound too good although Aguas do Algarve have also promised down here that there will be no cuts during the tourist season.
