This is clearly stupid. I assume the writer meant that they have boreholes? If you suck hard enough on your borehole, you deprive your neighbours of water. This has happened frequently in the Algarve. Plus the fresh water you draw off can be replaced by sea water, even if you are quite a way inland and that really spoils things for other people using the same supply.

Spot on, as you chaps would say......

You don't "Produce" water, you Tap into an Existing water supply....as does everyone else.

The more water you "produce", the less water is left for everyone else from the existing supply of water......

Try "producing" water from a dry hole.

(works the same way with oil.)

I made the post in response to Graham. I'm the short bloke. Eco/Spider - your comments demonstrate a few things which it doesn't take a psychologist to discern:

You like to stir things - I don't imagine you're particularly up in arms over golf courses and water - and the more enraged the response you get the better you like it. Actually a classic manifestation of an inferiority complex.

Aggression is not the exclusive province of the short, as you demonstrate.

You're no Oscar Wilde in terms of wit, although there is clearly speculation regarding similarities in other areas.

Also, just for your info, I served in the Paras for nearly twenty years. A lot of us are on the small side and its quite an advantage for a number of practical reasons. Some 23 years ago I was down south and there were Guards and Gurkhas there too. I'll tell you now you wouldn't be quite so keen air your views with those little Nepalese chaps - they actually had a bit of a dispute some years later with G (Guards) Squadron SAS, in Belize it was. The SAS got a bit of a panning. Yet, do you know, until they switch it on the Gurks are the nicest, friendliest people you could meet.

The secret of aggression is the ability to control it - one you might usefully learn. I try hard to reserve mine for the appropriate time. Anyway, back in 1982, I faced, among others a Spanish speaking officer a good foot taller than me. Sadly, only one of us went home but at least he was face to face - they didn't have forums to fight on then.

wtf is that all about? Here we are discussing golf (again) and a very serious water shortage and someone starts off about the gurkhas. You must remember to keep up your medication.

Eco, Why do you have to be so nasty with the majority of your posts. If you wasnt so rude,aggresive and nasty people might take you more seriously, at the moment i think like me most people just see you as a bit of a idiot venting your spleen, but if you read between the lines some of the things you say are quite valid its just the way you put things across people dont want to listen to your views because you seem to be constantly on the attack. People see your name attached to the post and think here we go again theres eco spitting feathers again and the point you are trying to make gets lost in all the following rudeness and nastiness.
I would like to see if you could maybe respond in a way that isnt insulting rude or aggresive or am i hoping for too much.

I have no interest in golf whatsoever but do not object to others enjoyment of the game..Id only say one thing..think there are quite enough courses already?
On the other hand..water shortage should be of great concern..without it we're 'done for'! but theres already a topic on this here.
Just to settle the argument.. the Spiderman is not GAY!
Ive had the messages( some time back now) to prove it..
nothing abusive or crude..simply a man flirting with a woman.The 'stalking' bit did alarm me but don't believe any harm was intended as it was all in the open on here..
I had to say that..as I think theres been too much 'slurring' going on here!
As for being small or big.. not important...its what you 'are/content of character that counts......ellie

No Loretta, it's not to much to ask, in fact if you knew me you would be surprised at what a nice bloke I can be. My passion is, the not so human being who takes delight but never gives it. I speak as I find and do not, as suggested, "hide behind this forum". At least I have shoulders broad enough to take all that is thrown at me whilst attempting to get my points across. As for being compared to Oscar Wild, it has never been proved that he was a practicing homosexual, I would love to have his mastery of the English Language and his wit.

We went to have a look at this golf course as we are having a villa built fairly nearby and wanted to see what was going on. There is a very very long driveway which eventually leads to a clubhouse surrounded by what will be a lovely finished golf course which I am sure golfers will enjoy in fact you can play there already (not that we have as we do not play). It will have so I have heard villas built to buy or rent and that's about all I know which is probably not much and I would suggest Jaylay that you go and have a look as we did.

Eco, I dont think i would be surprised that you are a nice bloke, Im sure you are, and i take your point that at least you dont hide behind the guise of guest and you have the balls to put a name to your posts not like some people who use this forum

Im glad that you will try and be nice i understand you are passionate about various topics and get het up and maybe see a red mist about some things (we all have our moments) I would just hate to see valid points that you make go unheard because some people may be put off.

P.S. Dont be too nice, you got to keep people on their toes, you dont want them thinking your going too soft

Hi Ellie, As usual the calming voice among the shouting. Thank you for confirming my gender I was begining to doubt it myself amid all the attacks. It would be great to have a chat and a drink with you AND!! hubby one day.

All this suger and spice, I wonder if there is another side to you, only hubby would know, perhaps he could come on here one day and fill in a few details?
