Voltage!

Hi
I know this may be (or is!) a stupid question, but, what is the voltage used in Cvo? You see, this year I will be bringing my mobile phone with me,

(never had one before

) and want to bring my 220v recharger. You see, I've never had the need to plug anything into the electric system before. Only the Mozzie thingy in the hotel and they provided that.

hiya, voltage is the same as the UK but you will need to bring adaptors for the plugs.

OK Thanks for the info. Now, where do I get the adapter for the power socket?? Can I get one in the local hardware or electrical shop?
Is there such an emporium in Cvo?

You can get them in the uk in places like woolworths, or failing that, they always have them at the airport

There is a shop in cvo that sells them. I don't know the name of the road, its the one that takes you right into cvo with the Safari Bar etc. and I think the shop is close to the Loja Fresca or old Ali Super. That's if it still sells them. I've never actually bought one from there.

Now, sadly we don't have Woolworths in Ireland any more.

and guess what? We have the same voltage here as in the UK. Isn't that wonderful too!

Actually Joe.....I 'forgot' my plugs on recent trip..so after asking a friend where to buy.....I bought one at a little electrical shop in CVO..
Up Estrada da Farol past The Chinese Rest. and A Galeria & Mungos etc..parade of shops that has a 'downstairs' ?
Its down the stairs...think it was 3 euros something...
I only bought one..for Mob. recharger..

Need the mobile fully charged to get the text messages from the two daughters at home! Where's this and where's that? How do we unlock the windows and when do the window cleaners come? You know the type of thing.

There must not be a lot on TV tonight. Everyone is on the Internet.

I think I can get hold of everything Avon has to offer, but I am not entirely sure whether they do everything that they do in the UK. However, if the Woodland stuff is still available (and right now I am not entirely sure it is) then I will be able to get it. Am making enquiries on that one and will be getting back to everyone who has asked about it.

What was the name of that shop where you go in and buy by a catalogue, pay and then wait in line for them to bring the goods out of the back...? - they have the adapters, not sure if you have these shops in Ireland though.

Thanks. The shop is 'Argos' and yes we do have it in Dublin. I have the 1200 page catalogue beside me. Will look it up now.

The adaptors you will need are freely available all over the place, Tesco, WH Smith, Boots, airport shops, most drogarias in Algarve - all around 2EU to 3 EU depending where you go.

If you feel a bit twitchy about getting replies based on UK knowledge (which is where most CVO members come from) then perhaps you should specify "Irish replies only" in future
