I nearly always use these:

And I have always been pleased with them.

Sounds steep to me.

I have used zitauto.com and never had a problem. Good prices too.

Shop around and compare. I always do and I get some real bargains.

Economy car hire used to use Zit but stopped when (allegedly) the 2 brothers fell out over the re investment in new cars. They now use the brother that set up a new company and re invests in new cars. They also class June as mid season unlike others that call it peak. Mike

www.algarvedriver.com will match any price with cash payment on delivery - no hidden extras: no pre-payment and thus no cancellation or amendment charges etc. etc.

Incidentally, is it necessary to re confirm with Zit Auto nearer the day?

I always check closer to the pick up (2 days) and with Zit would question the age of the car. Economy car hire no longer (last year) use this company for reasons above.

yes, any news on this yellow jackets business and other new things connected to car hire please? The car hirers amongst you have gone very quiet. We are out next week and don't want to get caught or go to the expense of having to buy things if we don't have to. Hopefully see some of you around town.

This is an interesting one - the yellow jacket issue in hire cars - I could see the companies being concerned that they would be "nicked" and therefore not wanting to supply them - who would be liable in law ?? - my guess is the driver !!!

As it goes they dont cost much (I bought 2 EN471 compliant jackets for 7 euros - one yellow and one orange coz as of now its not clear what colour they have to be - the usual Portuguese conflicting advice so I hope I am on the safe side - unless someone later decides they have to be purple or something !)
