Wifey & I plus a couple of good friends dined here last Monday night. Had to book (which is a good sign for a restaurant in February)Now we're not easily pleased when it comes to dining out but we have to say that the food, service and ambiance here was second to none in Carvoeiro & is right up there with some of the best we've eaten in anywhere. Food is predominantly Italian (Cooked by Germans) but the house specials had fish & meat as well. Some of the delicious Pasta dishes are EUR 8.50, which makes them excellent value. The whole bill for 4 was EUR 100 - including 3 carafes of house wine.

All this within a stones through from our lovely apartment (which is available for rent - see Casa Arcada in the rentals section on main site

Would thoroughly recommend this to any lovers of good food & service, we will certainly be regular visitors from now.

(PS - just to say that our equally fussy friends thought the food was better than we had at BonBons the night before)

Primavera is located at the top of the hill on Estrada Do Farol, towards Rocha Brava & just past the new Mirachoro but on the opposite side.

Spot-on, this is a super restaurant - but you need to have a hefty appetite to get through a starter and a main course, let alone a dessert.

I, for one have bitten off more that I can chew in there on a few occasions but it is good value.

Be advised - they do not take credit cards.

I have to say that Primavera restaurant was a real bonus for us on this visit to Carvoerio ( 7th May 2005 - 3rd time in 5 years) On our first evening we walked out from our resort (Pestana Palm Gardens)with a view to finding somewhere to eat. We must have been more tired (or hungry) than we expected as Primavera was the first place we came to and decided to give it a try. We were greeted with surprise, in as much as we hadn't booked - but we were accommodated.
The meal was really great although my wife had the forethought and good sense to order a starter as a main course - thus allowing for a dessert.
The menu was interesting and tempting, but the delivery even exceeded our expectations. The whole meal was beautifully prepared and exquisitely served with option of the specials taken by myself. With 2 bottles of house wine included, the 3 courses plus coffee came to EUR 70.
It represented excellent value and a wonderful change from the boring repetitive menus that can be seen in abundance throughout the town.
During our week we came back twice more - when you are the type of person who is always on the look out for something different - that's quite an endorsement.
I was interested to note that they don't take credit cards - I must have been lucky to have had the cash on each occasion. Normally I would have tried to use a card. I'll certainly be mindful when we go again next year to save my embarrassment.

Delighted to hear you enjoyed it - I did warn you about the credit card situation.

It appears that more of the better restaurants in Cvo are not accepting non-Portuguese credit cards. In 2 partucular restaurants they do not even accept those. Bon Bon and Lanterna Velha - is this the start of a trend?

I think it is more a case of saving money as the credit card companies have grown very greedy - not only do they charge the establishments various monthly rates, they also shave a considerable percentage off the takings through their system. I would not be surprised to see the pace of Visa/Mastercard/Amex stickers disappearing off the shop windows increasing.
