Shipping some furniture
Hi
We would like to ship some furniture, and bits and bobs from the UK.
Can you just have a small container as its only things like 4 single beds, bed settee, chairs, desk and bits and bobs like cutlery and plates, saucepans, personal bits and bobs etc
Can anyone recommend the most cost effective way to achieve this(not using a camel)
Many thanks

This should not be a problem - virtually all the removals carriers who work here can do part loads which are then "grouped" with others to make a full truck, although it might take a bit longer that way with maybe coming in via Spain into a local depot first.
We brought a part load out (14 cu m) with AIM Removals (based near Lagos) they collected from our UK house and grouped it with other stuff at their base in Cheshire and it got here about 7 days later (having come via Malaga !).
There are plenty of carriers vying for this business - check the Resident and/or The News and ask for quotes on a rough space estimate.

Another thought to consider - as regards furniture - we only ended up bringing what you would call personal effects as with the shipping costs against purchase prices here (Moviflor/Conforama etc) it worked out cheaper to buy new stuff - especially from Moviflor whose service was excellent and included assembly as well as delivery.

Many thanks Iane as always you are a mine of information
Who/what are Moviflor/Conforama are they near Lagos. When we looked at beds etc they were very expensive ie 1000euros for just a single bed.
Do you have Aims email address/telephone number please, i will see what sort of prices they quote etc?

So its you again pigs
Im afraid the nearest Moviflor is in Olhao !! - but you can find them on the web first to see what sort of things they have (the single beds we bought for our daughters room cost only about 80 euros each plus the mattresses) - Im pretty sure they would deliver to Aljezur - they seem to deliver anywhere in the region - they are a national company.
Conforama are pretty new to the region - in the Retail Park next to the Algarve Shopping but I dont know if they have anywhere else (Im not too familiar with the Lagos area) - again worth a "trawl" through google or somesuch - AIM are in Odiaxere (email is algarve.movers@clix.pt or tel 282 799141) - but there are also plenty of others. If you want some numbers let me know

Buy or ship furniture?
We own a T2 in Lagos, and having trawled that area, not found much at all. The only Conforama in next door to Algarve shopping, but I reckon Moviflor at Olhao is worth a trip - got all our beds there. Watch out though - in the store each item has 2 prices: delivered or collected.
By chance we then found a great place over the road in Olhao called Mobilar. Lot of it very heavy traditional stuff, but did a great deal on a modern 2 seater and 3 seater sofa, plus glass top table & metal chairs. Delivery was free and the delivery men were fantastic.
Happy hunting...

Hi Mallymal
Yep someone else mentioned them as well. We have found plenty of furniture places if you can afford the really expensive stuff. Lovely if it was your main place of residence
We have also come across Style Furnishers. they have a website and their prices seem reasonable.
We are going to try and find Moviflor at Olhao. Anyone have directions please? Many thanks
