just been told by my lawyer that the public notary fees for my purchase of villa at euros 310000 will be over 3000 euros....all for 15 mins of work!!!!

such remuneration is almost the same as hollywood stars earn

for a that purchase amount I would expect a 400 euros notary fee tops!!
The notary should have a placard with the fees calculation method.

Ask the notary to explain you before hand . the calculation is quite starightforwood.

its been explained by my lawyer and the agent...but it is still DAYLIGHT ROBBERY

Still I would ask the notary him/herself...Never heard of such amount for a 310000 purchase. Are there other fees involved, besides the notary's?

Sounds awfully high.I purchased three years ago and fees were only a few Hundred...What happened..??

yes indeed there is a flat fee of 175 then oh yes (always read the small print) a percentage on the purchase price which is just under the 3000 for me.

well bang goes the new kitchen we wanted

really very soon ...despite all the hype that this is where everyone wants to buy no one will ..if i had known i would certainly have bought something cheaper

sorry yes forgot..there is 12000 IMI tax 3000 lawyers fee..total is 18000

if you think the people selling have to pay capital gains tax..also about 16000 agents fees the whole business of buying and selling here is an absolute RIP OFF

That doesn't sound right.

I have just sold an offshore property for a similar amount in sterling and my costs were Euro 2,800 for everything.

Try another Lawyer!

We've just completed our purchase on a 300,000 euro property. Obtained two estimates from different lawyers, and they both came in at 18,500 euros for the whole deal. This included IMT at 4.5% and legal fees of 1% of purchase price. Just received the bill and we overspent by 500 euros, but he did put in some extra work. I think the cost is what it is.
