POA for utilities

Is there any other method than granting POA to act on behalf of an offshore company, to deal with utility companies. I had given my lawyer POA when buying the property but this has long since expired, and to go through the process again just so as I can instruct utility companies to do things seemslong winded.

Any sugestions?

If you have a management agent, then he/she will deal with this, does not require POA to pay utilities. Mike

morning Mike (Up the Addicks ,Uefa placethis year ?? )- We do,and he does pay the bills but in a situation where we want to change the services we receive from a utility, and the property is owned by a company, the utility Co require the signature of a director or authorised signature. Offshore vehicles typically have nominee directores and authorised people to sign therefore POA is required unless, there is another trick I am not aware of available.

No advances on POA then ... going, going gone. Sold to the lawyer who will charge me an awful lot to put in place POA for my Company.

Your management company should issue you with a POA which will enable you to deal with utility companies. When I had an interest in offshore my management company charged about £250 for a POA which lasted about 3 years as I recollect. This POA did not enable me to sell the company asset and I had to get a peaparate POA made out to a lawyer to effect the sale.

Sorry I didn't come back before owner (is that you Gazzer). If you have a lawyer in Potugal, I think you will find that his/her signature would be ok as they are a recognised fiscal representative. It's worth a call. As for Charlton, yes I think UEFA is within their grasp providing they give Jeffers more starts. Hopefully our first away game will be in Portugal although anywhere would do! Mike

Still got the season tickets and seen quite a few albeit mainly the Saturday games, not happy about the way Sky are dictating when we play. Saying that the 50mins highlights on Sky sports active Saturday nights are a real bonus(when we win!). How about you?

Mike - Nothing at all this year, hope to get to a few games in March. I did catch up with a Welling game over Christmas - quite good fun, real ene to end stuff.

To drag this back to the original topic, how are the utility company ever going to know whether or not your authorised to act on behalf of your offshore? Why not simply write to them in the offshore’s name and sign off “For and behalf of . . . ” and, if necessary, send them a copy of your passport?
