Hi Caazy, have stayed there many times. Its fine, nothing special, but the location is spot on and the rooms are clean and all en-suite. Rooms 122,123 and 124 are next to the heated pool if thats any help, also they only serve breakfast and evening meal no lunch. Some evenings there is entertainment in the main reception area, never stayed in for that must admit, but think you will find it pleasant and friendly.

Carvoeiro Sol
Stayed there for two nights (in early May) a couple of years ago when we were househunting. The hotel/room etc was fine BUT my room looked out over the square and I was kept awake 'til 1am by thumping music from one of the bars across the road, then by drunken revellers returning from the beach and finally by some boyracers careering round the square at 5am with car windows open and stereo blaring. They got out of their car, proceeded to relieve themselves on the lamposts and only disappeared (with a cheerful wave in my direction) when they realised I was glaring at them from my balcony ! I know I'm getting old but I do like my sleep uninterrupted !
So, moral of the tale - try and get a room that doesn't look out over the square !
Having said that we still bought very successfully in CVO and have never regretted it.
Too lazy to log in - Alison.

And dont take a room near to the Kitchen......I found a number of dead and half dead Cockroaches just outside the Kitchen .....and they were the big type that fly and are about 3 inches long ........but in Winter time you shouldnt see this so much....Put me right off the place and I never went back...I should also say I have never seen another (Big) cockroach in the Algarve since.....and I go there a lot....

Stayed here for one week last March. We were lucky to get a seaview room (didnt pay the supplement) that overlooked the square. It was very quiet at night but we are taling March! If youre hiring a car dont try and park in the square, you can park on the road behind the hotel and take the back steps down from the road to the pool area. The hotel is fine - not luxurious - but clean, comfortable and in a brilliant position (no big hills to walk up after a night out). The breakfasts were a bit boring but about the same as all the other hotels in the area. We enjoyed the happy hour every evening, it was a great opportunity to meet other guests of all nationalities and of course benefit from the cheaper prices. Didnt use the pool much as a man died in it while we were there and it rather put us off. Hope you have a fab time!
Now I am puzzled, caz.
Aside from the dead guy in the pool
the Carvoeiro Sol has been known to provide what it advertises. It is central (bound to be a bit noisy in season), inexpensive and comfortable.
I suppose it all comes down to expectation. I don't want to be rude, but I think that if you go for a hotel in that price category, your expectations should not be too high.
As for the weather, havent seen a drop of rain in 2 months and by the time you finish brekkie, the temps should be up to at least 16ºC.

Hi Cazzy,
Agree with G. - I wouldnt be put off by previous reviews and would quite happily stay in that hotel if I could go now. The hotel is in a great location especially if you are visiting soon - the town wont be busy so the noise levels will be reduced compared to high season and even then Cvo. isnt as noisy as my road when the pensioners get chucked out of the local institute at closing time
You are literally next to the beach, bars, restaurants, cafe's so you won't have to hop too far (hope your leg is getting better). And one of the best reasons for staying at the Sol - the ice cream parlour is opposite!!!! - could murder a vanilla & mango cone right now
Also when we visit Cvo. we find that we are hardly in our apt. and only need it for a shower and bed because we spend most of our time outside enjoying the local hospitality:P
Have a great time-think you'll be pleasantly surprised! Let us know how you get on.

Of course i wasnt expecting a 5 star hotel for what we paid ! I was just curious and as long as its clean im not botherd, didnt expect stories of large cockroaches etc !! that sort of put me off. Then the man in the pool that most definatly shocked me.
Also we picked the hotel because of my knee problem (somedays i can walk somedays i can't) so yes i would expect noise becuase of the location near the sqare and beach.
I have been to many hotels some that no one likes its down to personal choice.

@ Cazzy. We tend to use the Carvoeiro Sol for our long weekends in CVO. In fact we are flying out this Saturday and staying in the hotel until Tuesday. The only small thing that I've found is the rooms tend to feel a little chilly and a little damp. There are heaters on the walls and they do heat the room fairly quickly. However as most of our weekends spent there are Jan / Feb - it's not much to complain about. If you do get a room with a sea view overlooking the square - it more than makes up for it. I do enjoy lying in bed and looking out up at the houses on the hill. The staff are friendly and although the breakfasts are not Michelin rated there's something for everyone.
Another big plus for me...it's in staggering distance from Sullys and even when wearing heels...I make it to my room in one piece.
