Electrical Goods

Post by davecwill »

I need to replace my fridge/freezer. I have been quoted 700 Euros by Rocha Brava. This seems a high price or is it?
Can anybody give be names of retail outlets that I can visit in February
Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Dont you have to be a member to buy at Macro?
Also do they deliver and take the old one away.

Trouble with Makro etc is after sales service. Why not get a local quote from Sr. Camillo of Electrolagoense in central Lagoa?

Makro

Makro is a company who deal with trade organisations, so you would need have or work for a local company to apply for a trade card. My experience is that the prices on their products are not that much cheaper when you add on the local tax but their offers are usually pretty good. I have no experience of aftersales service. I would think Wortens would be just as good on price. Dave.

Anybody can buy at Makro on a day ticket - just ask at the counter on the way in.

It is either a good thing or a bad thing but please bear in mind that Macro has an absolute NO CHILDREN rule (shame, because it has some of the best vegetables and gambas for sale in the food section, and we normally have the brats with us when near it)

After shopping around, we bought most of our electrical appliances from Conforma, on the retail park at the side of Algarve Shopping. This was about a month ago. Delivery was very efficient, and when we had one (slight) setting up problem, they sent someone out to us, and the problem was sorted.

I can thoroughly reccomend Worten in Algarve Shopping. V. Good value, delivery next day (they said 1030 and arrived from Lisbon on the dot), removed old unit and packaging from new one & levelled & tested . First class service.

For what it's worth, our villa guests have just picked up from Worten a DVD player, multi region, good specification for 40 euros! It's the Denver 706k. No idea how reliable it is but at that price....Mike

"For the benefit of the tape" - we bought one of the Denver 706K DVD players from Worten before Christmas(also at 39.99EU) and it works great - it also has a mike input for my karaoke loving daughter and one year ago the cheapest kit we could find with one of those on was 90EU in Radio Popular (not very popular with me though - check their prices !!).

We bought our TV and DVD from Conforama, after checking out Wortons and Radio Popular. No complaints at all on the level of service. We did take a look in Macro, but felt concerned about any aftersales service we might require. Agree though that DVD players are now "as cheap as chips".
