MOVING TO CVO

WE ARE SPENDING TIME OVER THE HOLIDAY LOOKING AT PROPERTIES IN THE AREA.
WE WOULD WELCOME " HONEST " OPINIONS OF THE GOOD AND NOT SO GOOD ASPECTS OF LIVING IN CVO.

WHICH ARE THE AREAS TO AVOID, HOW GOOD ARE LOCAL SERVICES,
DO LONGER TERM RESIDENTS RECEIVE BETTER SERVICE DISCOUNTS ETC ?

ALL VIEWS AND OPINIONS WELCOMED.

Hey come on Guest 121….. “very rude” !!! OK, the Bill Gates book of netequet (sp), tells us that the use of uppercase suggests shouting…….but consider for a moment how rude your abrupt post must appear, I mean you are not exactly mentioning this in passing whilst offering LIZZZ your help and advice. I have an aunt who emails me regularly and she always uses uppercase – and I don’t have a problem with that – she is 81 and never typed a thing in her life till 4 years ago after suffering a stroke and finding using a pen difficult.

Hi LIZZZ, this is a big question and I am sure there are lots of people here willing to help and guide you………but may I suggest you first become a member for two reasons: firstly, it gives you more credibility and so you will get a better response, and secondly, you will be able to communicate privately will fellow members.

Agree with Digger - Some pc whizzo might have thought of netiquette but I too would prefer to type permanently in UPPER CASING I struggle with my eyesight and I am aware elderly relatives do too so I have to write Christmas cards in larger writing to make sure they can read who the card is from. I dont think there is anything rude about UPPER CASE at all. You only think its shouting because some pc politically correct person told you so?
There are plenty of rude, abrupt and insulting posts in the lower case or doesnt that count

Hi Lizzz!

There are probably a million and one aspects to such a move and it all very much depends on the circumstances under which you move (personal, health, curiosity(?)).

I find it difficult to give general advice to anybody if I don't know what they have in mind. It would be a lot easier if you do a Q&A with some of us locals.
To avoid numbing your fingers at the keyboard, I would suggest you try and arrange a get-together with some of the members when you are down in cvo. A few drinks in Anteak down the line and you are sure to unearth all sorts of insider views and opinions

I for one would be more than happy to sit down with you for a few hours and have a chat.

We bought our house a couple of years ago and chose CVO as we had been visiting on and off for 20yrs(hubbies parents used to have villa at Penina)Like the "villagey" feel of it and love the winters when its quieter.We dont live there permanently yet but plan to eventually.Have not regreted quite hasty decision to buy and are slowly getting to know our neighbours who are Portuguese,French and German.Still learning Portuguese to try and get over language barrier,bought on the edge of Quinta do Paraiso so can make the most of pools there but not feel part of holiday complex.Family find it easy to use house as well as dont have to have a car and can walk into town easily.Biggest recommendation is to use good lawyer,have a survey(as in England) and join AFPOP.Also market fairly static so be cheeky and make offers as you may well get a bargain!
