Hi there, Could anyone explain the temperatures on the weathercam for me. It says highest temperature on a day like today is in the 30's yet all the forecasts I've seen say its only 16 degrees during the day. Right now 22:25 the weathercam says its 15 degrees when the forecast says its only 6 degrees. Which is the right one? I'm coming to CVO on tuesday so need to know what to pack. Thank you for your time

I think the reason is that the sensor is in the full sun and therefore gets hotter than the air temperature. Yesterday was quite hot in the sun, about early 20s, but only for a few hours in the middle of the day, evenings are cooler - about 8-10 degrees.

At this time of year you need to pack a bit of everything - lots of layers that can be put on or taken off, and something warm like a fleece for the evenings.

Have a great time!

This morning even 8c sounds down righ balmy. Went for my morning walk it is minus 30c with wind chill of -44c . Glasses fogged up, batteries in GPS died, it's squeeky snow weather. I cut my walk short this morning so I could come back in to my warm house and check the weather cam in CVO and warm up a little.

Looking forward to my 3 weeks in CVO in March. Until then it's thermal underware time

Merry Christmas to everyone from your cold friend in Ottawa

Snowbird, Sounds a bit nippy there. We have snow here on the hills in Snowdonia, Wales. Hard to believe in a few hours time I'll be wearing T'shirts even if its only for an hour or two at lunch time. Gosh I can't wait x (have even packed my bikini just in case)

Kteee, thanks for the info on the thermometer. xx
