The road from Lagoa to Silves has indeed had major construction and (in my view) improvement. I don't think that it has seriously ruined the countryside (not any more than any roads do ) as they seem to be landscaping the surrounds to the roads quite well. OK it'll probably take a year or two before the greenery settles, but there's clearly an intention to blend it in as best they can.

Also, the new road to Lagos is not yet ready, so nothing to report on that yet. My guess is it will save a huge amount of time bypassing Portimao, but its going to be a boring route.

yes the new road is very complicated...might be better when then lagos section opens....it will nice to see the new international airport built near silves
