god..Im so greedy with them..specially the green ones :P
But I can only get them (Spanish ones) in tins..I like them stuffed with garlic..the boys have them with anchovies.
They have very nice ones, couverte...mixed at L'Orange.with lovely dressing. I think the green ones are tad more piquant?
But even if I had them here in Lincs..it wouldnt be the same without the CVO ambience!
Just had text from Susana..saying its hot again there! For my mate Trickys sake..Im glad to hear it..even tho Im turning green with envy (& rain) here
Be interesting to know those of you resident..whether youre lucky to have Olive trees on your land?

I've got loads of olive trees up in Alentejo...and I brought some down with me yesterday. I'm going a bit wild and having way too many...my diet is again postponed until I finish them ALL! Hubby not keen...

yes ive got 20 olive trees on land but sadly its totaly uneconomic to pick them as the time and labour and petrol to take them to the olive oil factory in messines doesnt equal what oil can be bought for in the shops.

the local peasants who pick them by hand cannot earn anything when there is an italian machine which can harvest 90 percent of olives off a tree in 7 seconds

Believe me....I know all about this. They demand 50 euros a day or else they won't work and your olives will remain there. And if no one picks them the EU subsidy is not paid...my dad used to get ill every year with this situation.
