Condominium Insurance

Post by joeysoap »

The issue of comdominium insurance has raised it's head at our complex. Basically we need imdemnity for pool users and pool area, not individual properties.

previously the builder of the pool and properties was charging €350 to the condominium for insurance (though none of us ever saw the actual cert). He has now departed the scene and we are getting quote of double that just for liability cover for the pool and pool area from Zurich.

would be interested to know names of alternative insurance suppliers for such cover and if anyone has recommendations.

our condominium, have 2 insurances, one for Public liability ( ie covers any accidents) the other for Earthquake. Its about 600 for the 2.
Suggest you get a quote from Medal Insurance brokers ( Afpop use them )

One of our members tried Medal, but got a reply that they don't insure pools/common areas.

Neither do Intasure( though they will add on liability cover to an individual policy) Abbeygate don't insure pools/common areas in Portugal either ( though they said they do in Spain )

Anyone else have a condo /association with shared pool area know who is insuring their pool for public liability?

Ours is insured by AXA around the 400€ mark public liability. Was through Medal but several years ago, try AXA directly to see if they will quote.

Thanks again Jaylay. We received a more positive response from AXA in Lisbon to our enquiry.
