Typical Meal Costs?
Hello,
We will be in Carvoeiro for the first time in around a month, at Monte Dourado. Looking forward to it.
Can anyone please give me typical costs for dinner? I realise this depends on the standard of the establishment, and what we eat....
....so at a guess, 2 adult main courses (generally fish / chicken / pasta / pizza), 2 kids main courses, a couple of kids deserts, and a bottle of house wine?
What are typical costs in the local bars for beer / wine?
Cheers!

Re: Typical Meal Costs?
Thanks Jeremy.
I'd found these online earlier, and noted that only the first one gives prices.
Would be grateful for further information.
For the last few years, we've been to either Majorca / Lanzarote / Mainland Spain, so I'm just wondering if Carvoeiro is going to be different in terms of meal / drink prices.

Re: Typical Meal Costs?
Interesting that 2 out of 3 of those links from Jeremy do not have prices
I would expect to pay anywhere from €55 all the way up to over €100 for all of you including tip and drinks for the kids. Chicken is cheap, fresh fish is not. Pasta can be cheap, but the best Italian restaurants in town are not cheap. I guess that the range of prices is about the same as you get at home - wherever that may be - except London !keithbrown53 wrote:...2 adult main courses (generally fish / chicken / pasta / pizza), 2 kids main courses, a couple of kids deserts, and a bottle of house wine?

Re: Typical Meal Costs?
I would agree that you would be looking from 55 upwards generally, there is however a few places that have surprised us in the past by the good value on offer and could be even cheaper than this e.g. Sunday lunch in Ma-Ja's is fantastic value (and fantastic quality/portions/service), Vimar and Os 3 Jotas can also be very reasonable to name a few.
I think the main thing that we have noted over the years is that Carvoeiro offers really good options for eating out and the quality is generally of a high standard and I think regardless of price it is hard to find that consistency in a lot of other resorts.
You should definitely be looking forward to it, in my opinion even the more expensive eating out options are never at rip-off prices, always found Carvoeiro to be good value.
You are also staying in a nice central location.
Hope you enjoy yourselves, it will be money well spent

I would just like to say that I'm sure you will love Carvoeiro, our first visit was ten years ago and we have returned every year since because we feel it is such a special place.
You will see when you arrive and walk around the village that the restaurants have their menus displayed so you will be able to make your own choice depending on your budget.

Lots of restaurant reviews at :
viewforum.php?f=22
Depends a bit if you want to eat at lunch time or evening. Many places have 2 or 3 course lunches with wine etc for 10€ pp ( Ponto Encontro, Vimar, Ferraguedo Square restaurants) but not many do in the evening : exceptions are Escondidinho and Girasol ( in Parchal), both typically Portuguese.
If you want touristy restaurants, then double those prices pp...and more .
I don't know beer prices in town any more, but 70c/1€ in a country cafe is more the norm....but double that at least in town!

Re: Typical Meal Costs?
We were there in May 4 adults and most nights we were around the 80 euro mark with starters and mains and wine , this was pretty much the price everywhere from Italian to Indian , the only two meals that were slightly more expensive were Ele & Ela which was 110 euro but worth every penny and Casa do BIfe which the set menu was 45 euro a couple but fantastic value .

Hi,
We've just come back from Costa Del Sol and prices are just about the same as Carvoeiro. So just what you would expect to pay when visiting other European places.
