Log delivery!

Post by spook »

Does anyone know of someone who would deliver logs to a 3rd floor apartment (with lift)!? If so, could you let me know contact details. Many thanks.

I suspect that the most you can hope for is to have the delivery tipped by the door, then you and whoever will help, will just have to cart them up in the lift

Thanks for that but sadly don't own a helicopter or a helipad so think that is out of the question!! I really do hope that you were being flippant, as neither my husband or I are able, due to health and age issues to 'cart' them upstairs and certainly wouldn't wish to impose on anyone else to do so.

There's no way you can get them to the 3rd floor without "imposing on somebody" even if it's the log delivery driver. Perhaps you could look for an odd job man that could take the load upstairs for a few euros. If it's a 3rd floor apartment I would think you are not talking about a large quantity/weight of logs because you are unlikely to have the storage space - if that's the case and there is a lift can't you use a wheelbarrow?

Thank you for your reply Farol - very constructive and helpful advice, something else for us to consider and research!! Do you know of any 'odd job' men? :D

You could try calling Nick Telling (man with van) on 934 491 320
That number was stored in my phone some 3-4 years ago, so hope its still correct. He does advertise in the small ads in the Portugal News every week.
Nick may even source and deliver the wood for you and maybe charge a tiny bit more, but he's very helpful if he cannot deliver to your door, he'll probably know a man who will.

OK! no jokes then, back to the logs, how many a day do you burn? surely someone has a ground floor storage room that you could use and then you just take up in the lift the amount you need for the day simps!, otherwise you'll have a flat full of logs
Just out of curiosity how come you have a log burning stove or fire in an upstairs flat? if I were you I'd change it. 8)

Have to agree with Pato.
Change the Fire to a Gas, if available or Pellet stove.
Why have loose logs in an apartment.
Intermarche sell bags for €2.50, can be purchased when required and are much more convenient and cheaper than the Wheel barrow sellers at the side of the road.
Good luck.
