motorised satellite dish
motorised satellite dish
Hello there, does anybody know if you have a motorised satellite dish if you can turn the dish & receive the UK channels?
Re: motorised satellite dish
Short answer NO, if you live in the Algarve.alf1956 wrote:Hello there, does anybody know if you have a motorised satellite dish if you can turn the dish & receive the UK channels?
Sky have moved a lot of transmissions to their new Satellite which has a much smaller footprint, only covering the UK and perhaps Northern France.
I see they have just moved ITV3 hd. Wonder if they will eventually move the rest!

Re: motorised satellite dish
The reason generally given for not using a motorised dish is the very high winds that are prevalent in the Algarve. The only satellite you can get with all the UK channels on is almost 180degrees away from the sky sat, you couldn't get a satellite motorised to such range of movement anyway.
Re: motorised satellite dish
That interesting maccasa that there is a satellite that broadcasts all the uk channels. I havent got a motorised dish just a fixed one&was considering fitting a motor to it if there was a satellite available. Do you think it would be possible to turn the dish the required 180 degrees or so to receive the signal ?

alf1956 - the answer is yes but there are other issues. Have at look at the following site which gives a good summary:
http://www.satandpcguy.com/Site/intelsa ... annels.php
You need a dish at least 80cm diam and a digibox such as an Icecrypt S1600CHD which can be bought on the internet or Marc Electronica in Portimao. If the BISS codes change then updated firmware for this digibox can be downloaded from sites such as http://gadgetadventure.com/blogs/news/1 ... -14-17-00h
