Your electric meter goes faster. :D and, you can also hear the water being heated if you stand by the unit - it fizzes. Then there is always the fact that the water stays hot when the sun hasn't shined for 2-3 days. But seriously if you haven't got a visible meter you cant really tell.

Hello,

We changed the hot water system 2 years ago. It was running on gas, together with the central heating system. We had it replaced by thermic solar and a heat pump. But the gas boiler is still there as a back up system. It was done by Mr Costa Santos in Lagoa. He is Portuguese but speaks French and his secretary speaks English. He is a very reliable person. He has his shop behind the bus stop in Lagoa. Can recommend his services. His number is +351 (282) 341 968. We were very happy with his service. And afterwards always there when you have some extra questions.

Hello KathleenT
If you dont mind me asking how did it cost you for the full package ? I like the sound of using a local person.

How can you tell when the immersion kicks in?
Just look at the meter!

Our meter is at the bottom of a long steep drive!
