BARKING DOGS [ WITH OR WOTHOUT MICRO CHIP !! ]

Just returned today from CVO, stayed in apartment in Rua do Barranco.
Peace and quiet sorely disturbed by bouts of prolonged barking from dogs which appeared to be resident on or near the small area of open ground rear and west of the officina bar. Had this been my first visit it would discourage me from ever returning !! However, I have enjoyed many happy visits and expect , or hope, to enjoy many more.
If the owner of said canine[s] should read this may I extend my wish that their peace be as disturbed as mine was. I reccommend as a remedy for the dogs uncontrolled barking a small lead weight placed centally between the ears. Should you be reluctant to pay for this service I will happily provide it for free.**********************************************

Before any dog lovers become incensed with my remarks please take on board that whilst the problem was very real the solution offered is a little tongue in cheek.
I am a dog lover myself, though most are too large for a single serving.

Mine was a cockeral irbron! started about 3 am I think...but I did find a cure..no not earplugs...I started to 'count' the cock-a-doodle-doos (you know..a bit like counting sheep?...and I would eventually drop off!

the cockerel was also in evidence but not as noticeable as the dogs, possibly a little futher away.

when living in Portugal the only complaint I could find was the noise pollution - barking dogs, cockerells, motorbikes etc
Now back in UK very quiet but no sunshine in the morning, just cant win

I guess the last comment sums it up.
The loudest things around me this morning are the sounds of the washing machine, the cat purring and the gentle pitter patter of rain on the window panes. Not likely to overheat either !!

Hope you 2 had lovely hols? god isnt it awful trying to get back in 'work mode' after cvo sun?
I had wall to wall sunshine for whole month (greedy arent I?)..and have come back to almost permanent drizzle...heating on...and stiff knee!!
and I thought that using stairs twice a day ..up& down to apart (I have phobia of getting in lifts on my own

).would have made me more flexible?

yeah..def. agree.. for sure..Id rather put up with 'dog chorus' & pesky rooster...than this constant drizzle & a hot water bottle

any sign of the wanted 'chuva' in Algarve yet?

I know how annoying it is......very little one can do....but please try to talk to the owners......my doggy was poisoned by Portuguese neighbors...it broke our hearts and even today I'm a few thou from slaughtering somebody........and my Dog rarely barked.......My dog was really my only companion ..my life actually...now and again it barked when somebody walked by...but that was all...........then I found a bone thrown over the wall and my dead dog.......not just a dog but really.....the love of my life............I'm just trying to put over the other side of the story

Dear guest, I sympathise with the loss of your faithfull pet and quite rightly as you say give and take is needed. I could never condone poisoning pets, or in fact any animals, for any reason, other more humane and professional methods must be employed if required. The dogs I refer to however did not bark at passers by, one could be clearly seen in the garden area approached by a private road and on one particular evening/night kept up its barking for no less than 5 hourswhich in turn encouraged other barking from locations near but not sighted. As I said earlier , after having my evening relaxation spoilt and my subsequent attempt at sleep disrupted I would happily have shot it at that point. Dogs respond exceedingly well to care and guidance and are a tremendous companion/asset. Dogs that pace and bark incessantly are usually the victms/product of abuse/neglect. Good guard dogs remain silent to maintain advantage. I suspect that this line of thought may well provoke various views. I do realise that for many the indigenous dogs appear to be of little consequence and I have personally witnessed the cruel lack of concern exhibited on an earlir occasion by a local driver whose vehicle made full contact with a dog leaving it wounded. Two years back my wife and I stayed at an address in Travessa das Naus where the daily exposure to the slavering jowels of a black and white sheep dog and a smaller heinz 57
when passing up or down the lane caused considerable reluctance for her to pass that way on her own. The reason for this being that she still carries the scars from an attack by such a dog some years hence. The owner incidentally seemed to find it amusing. I think however that my spirited discussion of the matter may have made my point clear. He did not however make any attempt to exert tighter control of the dog.
I am sorry if this seems a long rant, it is not meant in that way, my inconvenience was short lived, your loss has obviously hurt you deeply and I offer you my condolences.
