Internal Paint

Anyone got some good recommendations please?

I painted the kitchen/utility with Bardot back in 2009, Barbosilk, and it has lasted well. I have been told that CIN is better, but it is very expensive, €51 for enough to do 50 sq m.
For the ceilings , I have compromised a bit and am using CIN Tinta Para Tectos , a mat white at €28 for 4l, hopefully enough for 40-56 sq ms......but it seems very thin.

I have been warned off the supermarket/DIY shed own labels which can appear extremely cheap......what I want is a good Dulux!

Recommendations please.

This year I painted inside with Maxmats own brand 'Master' on the recommendation of a builder who said it was actually made by one of the big boys.

Did a good job better than the 'new' Dulux that I've just used here in the UK which now has a unique feature that it will wash off with a little water and a mild rub!

I've used Dulux from Tim Bebbington - Quality Paints in Lagos. See http://portugalresident.com/treat-your- ... y-paints-0 for some contact details. I add an anti-fungal additive from Robbialac where I am re-painting areas that have previously been susceptible to black mould.

Have used CIN in the past and the tin from early 2007 (time for redecorating perhaps) is still fine for the annual making good

Thanks for this, I never thought you could get it here & now I am wondering if i should!

I note they also do Dulux External & Sandtex ( which i use back in the UK) : but i thought I had read somewhere that UK paints aren't formulated for external Portuguse weather? They should be OK inside though, apart from malrc's problem!

Think I will perhaps stick to Portuguese paints after all!

I have always used Cin or Barbot, (I've probably spelt that wrong)
Both are high end in quality and more expensive, but are good quality paints both for inside and out
You need a mould resistant paint for indoors use.

Check out buying Dulux in UK and shipping via Algarve removals - you can buy online and have shipped to them in Colchester. They used to charge £60 for 6 "standard boxes", don't know what thye would charge for paint - you can pick it up from their depot in Alcantarhila

The only time that I have had a problem with any of the paint that I've bought in Portugal was when I bought a really cheap lot and it was like using water. However I know the same can happen in the UK - buy what is meant to be cheap trade paint and normally you find it a waste of money. If you buy one of the known brands of paint in Portugal then you shouldn't have any problems.

Is what I am using....not terribly impressed...will need a second coat in places, seems quite thin to me.

I've used several different paints, including CIN, and I've found them all to be quite thin when compared to UK brands. It's OK if you're just freshening up an existing colour, but when I painted our dark wooden doors white, it needed four coats!
