monitored alarm companies recommendations&prices
Re: monitored alarm companies recommendations&prices
It seems to be be that we are paying for a whole lot of nothing!I been told by a friend that even though the alarm company person will attend in the event of an alarm activation they will not go into the property to check it out they will either phone the keyholder or phone the police&by all accounts the police may or may not turn up!

Could not agree more. No one from my Company comes.shaz1967 wrote:It seems to be be that we are paying for a whole lot of nothing!I been told by a friend that even though the alarm company person will attend in the event of an alarm activation they will not go into the property to check it out they will either phone the keyholder or phone the police&by all accounts the police may or may not turn up!
Surely with all this modern technology, it must be possible to install your own Cameras and sensors which would notify your tablet or Phone, if activated, then you can make the decision on the next action if deemed necessary.
I bet someone out there must know the answer. I have already spent a fortune with my Alarm Company.

Our alarms are exactly what you mentioned, they are fitted with a sim card that informs the alarm company that there has been an activation&they send a person to check. I am currently waiting for a friend to look at my alarm to see if he can re-programme the alarm so that it alerts my friend who is based nearby which is just what we pay the alarm company for.

Please let us all know how you get on as the equipment is all mine, having paid a fortune for it originally.shaz1967 wrote:Our alarms are exactly what you mentioned, they are fitted with a sim card that informs the alarm company that there has been an activation&they send a person to check. We have securitas. Not expensive and good experience so far, even called me in the UK when they suspected an attempt to break in.

I agree.....we have had Securitas for 3 years now, and they have been very good. Very quick to respond to alarms and malfunctions, and emailed confirmations of any event.steve53 wrote:We have securitas. Once we were slow to respond to them and we found ourselves surrounded in GNR...
We also have internet accessible cameras and individual door sensors.
Cost? 32 euro a month.

Bruce is spot on.
After I buggered up last year at his villa trying to get the key out of the door and onto the sensor pad they were on me like a ton of bricks. We were very close to spending our first night's holiday in the cells.

Re: monitored alarm companies recommendations&prices
Securitas gave us the lowest price for the installation work, but the highest for the call out cover. I was going to have them until I spoke to my pool man - I asked who he preferred, as he services some 60 pools in the area, and is a key holder for several of the villas. He complained bitterly of securitas and said he had been called out 6 times this year on false alarms, when securitas had called him - the police had never arrived at any of them and he believes they call the 1st holder name in preference to the police, so they don't have to pay the call-out charge to them. He said that the main cause was dust/spiders covering the lens of the cameras.
So the lesson from my experienced pool man is that securitas don't seem send the police as much as they should and you should use motion detectors and shutter/window switches not cameras.
