Portsmouth Santander ferry.

Has anybody been on the Brittany Ferries Economy service they have put on at weekend?

Not yet, but we are booked on it in September.

Yes. It's pretty much as they describe except the car stays on deck for the journey. Cabins are smaller but adequate and there's no fine dining. OK for me travelling alone but not sure I'd use it with my wife.

The other ferry from Plymouth to Santander is fine it's the Bay of Biscay that gives me problems.

It really depends on whether you are looking for the cheapest possible crossing, or like to treat it as part of a holiday experience.

Biscay shouldnt be a problem in the summer.

I couldn't get on the Plymouth to Santander ferry this summer, as there was no room for the dogs. We're doing Portsmouth to Bilbao, which is a bit of a pain but never mind.

Thanks for info we are due to make the crossing in early Nov so fingers crossed for calm seas which ever Ferry we take

Really good to see a different sort of service being offered, great to have a choice. Have looked at the web site and did have a chuckle at how they've marketed it, cabins without carpet! Would love to hear some reviews from those brave enough as would consider for next year.

I came back to the UK on this boat at the end of April. It's a smaller boat and has less services. There's only a cafeteria (shared with the lorry drivers), a bar and a very small shop. No big open lounge but instead a couple of rooms with cinema style seating with big 'sleeper chairs which you can book if you don't want to go to the expense of a cabin. The cabins and bathrooms are smaller and yes have no carpet but the beds are pretty similar to the other larger boat. It's probably fair to say it's a one star service as opposed to the 2/3 star (depending on cabin choice) on the other boat. If you are on a budget its an option worth considering.
