sorry I don't get it if I do something wrong in England then I will get a fine if I don't do anything wrong I don't get a fine sorry but I don't get it we have been coming to Portugal for the last 10 years and have never had a fine if it was me I would have parked up and walked down to the post office not as if its that far to walk but may be that's why I have never been fined sorry if this post upsets some

The worrying thing is that they appear to be revenue collectors and picking up on the smallest things. Not indicating when pulling out onto an empty road for example. I'm sure UK police would be concentrating more on tail-gating and dangerous overtaking?

Thanks Laserblazer you are dead right it was not a major traffic violation and the GNR are definitely out to get the drivers of the hired cars. Not good for tourism

True, but they need the revenue. Some of the driving habits I have seen from visitors is deplorable, I think they leave there brains back home. Why should the think they are immune and can do what they like. Hope the Police book them all no matter how trivial. They can't read any road signs, don't indicate, have one speed, slow and think they have a right to disobey the rules.

Rubbish - a couple of years ago my other half got stopped in a speed-trap at 2 in the morning. They were positioned at the bottom of a hill where keeping to 30 mph is difficult at the best of times. Stopped, fixed penalty, move on. 8 police officers in situ processing the cars. No breathalysers - even with the group of 4 lads in a VW Golf.

Road safety is paramount - will tourists go to any area if there are road deaths, accidents and chaos? If you think you could be picked up for anything, then you will drive more carefully.

what I find more worrying is that this man knew he was doing wrong in the 1st place as he see the G N R coming so he pulled away am I missing something HE WAS DOING WRONG to start with the G N R pulled him coz he did something else wrong so I make that 2 things wrong the police in the UK would do the same again I am sorry if this upsets some but he did wrong two times

Fortunately we can walk into town easily. However on a couple of occasions when on our way, late, to the airport, hubby parked up for 2 minutes by Carvoeiro Sol to run up to Rascals to drop keys. It was off peak, but I did feel we may have been doing something naughty. As for indicating, hubby says to me no need when there is no one to indicate to. Better tell him this story. Whilst I do agree if you do something illegal expect to be pulled up, I am sorry, but I do truly believe in the UK you would have had a ticking off. The times I see delivery lorries in the village blocking the way of a coach is countless. Annoying for the drivers, but equally what should delivery drivers do 9/10 times. Little bit of patience goes a long way. Would not expect them to get fined. Thinking of the journey to and from CVO there are plenty of locals that get up your backside then overtake dangerously. Happens here too. GNR should be fining that sort of driver, then maybe there would be less accidents on the N125.

Fully agree Licy. I have seen the odd car pulled up on the 125 but by and large serious motoring offenses mostly escape without detection. Appreciate that GNR cannot be everywhere and would not have the resources to patrol the whole road all the time, however commonsense also applies and in this case all the officer had to do was advise the driver to indicate when moving off, regardless if the road is clear or not.
