Zitauto

Post by snaj1 »

Hi We've just booked a car with zit auto . Does anybody have any experience of using them?
We have always booked with algarve driver but unfortunately there was a massive price difference which YOR could not match, even though Steen tried on our behalf.
We've booked for early July and they prefer cash.
As always any advice and opinions are appreciated

We used Zitauto for the first time last August and was quite impressed how convenient it was getting to car park 4. Unfortunately, our nine seater vehicle could have been in better condition - we wondered if they had to call it in from another company. When we contacted them on getting back to the UK they did offer us a discount if we went with them again this year. However, the cars that we saw being collected by other customers looked in very good condition. When we took our vehicle back we noticed that Zitauto had taken delivery of a new Ford Transit nine seater, so if we hadn't been flying into Lisbon this year, we would have used them again.

Doesa nyone have a list of those companies who have their own check in vans in CP4.
Avoiding the long queues and delays that can build up at the hut is one of the reasons we use YOR.

Zit do not use the hut so no problem with them.
Multiple rentals at low prices in the last 16 years with satisfaction - highly recommend them :D

Thanks everyone for their comments.
I was wary as they say they prefer cash payment.

My thought as well. do they mean Notes only or is a PT debit card acceptable ?
Cash Ok for our winter trips when rental rates are lower but in the summer not so convenient as a debit card payment.

Nothing to worry about. As with many restaurants Zit keep their costs down by preferring cash. They will take a credit card in the last resort but they won't accept Multibanco ( Portuguese debit card). They operate a very simple system and don't try to rip customers off with extra charges or Toll pre-payments.

That's both good and bad news. I find the prepaid €20 that many companies (including AlgarveDriver) charge, can be a rip-off, but the Zitauto solution still leaves you in limbo land if you use the A22 for the return journey

Despite all the good reports above, I'm still finding it hard to use a company that will not give an instant online quote. Why do I have to wait for an email ?

Zit clearly tell you the situation regarding tolls and their policy so the customer can do whatever he wants - every option is open. If you really want a pre-paid rental then go to another company - simple !
I much prefer getting an e-mail quote that's cheaper than the others who give instant on-line quotes and anyway you only have to get the Zit price list to work it out for yourself
I have no interest in the Zit business but over the last 16 years I have literally had and recommended hundreds of bookings all of which have been fully satisfied.

I got a comparison quote from Zitauto and Algarve driver and the difference was less than 5 euros.
We do not use the toll so no 20 euros additional cost additional credit towards ou next free hire.
Cannot see any reason to change but will always get other quotes.
Plus of course can pay YOR with our PT debit, no need to worry about cash.

The AlgarveDriver booking/quote shows two prices; cash and, presumably, card. Which price do you pay by Multibanco card?
