ASTRA 2E now moving to station at 28.5 east
Re: ASTRA 2E now moving to station at 28.5 east
The ASTRA 2E satellite has started to move and has gone from it's testing position of 43.5 East to 40 East in the last couple of days. This means it will be in final position at 28.5 East in a 2-3 weeks. Given the prolonged testing period at 43.5 East they will probably be in a position to switch over channels immediately it is in place. SES announce it would happen in the last two weeks of February, this now looks very probable if not earlier.

Does this mean that we shall lose all the British TV channels when this happens??

Probably the main ones at least. No more Corrie and Eastenders, so it's not all bad news.
Re: ASTRA 2E now moving to station at 28.5 east
Not worried about Corrie or Eastenders but what about Call the Midwife and Mr. Selfridge!!!

If you have a good internet connection there are ways and means. Ask Michael Crane. I wouldn't be surprised if home produced programmes are made available on BBC Entertainment, or some other channel that is broadcast to Southern Europe.MaisieK wrote:Not worried about Corrie or Eastenders but what about Call the Midwife and Mr. Selfridge!!!![]()

has the change over begun ? lost ALL bbc channels early this morning .
Re: ASTRA 2E now moving to station at 28.5 east
Yep I do believe it has. No normal BBC or HD channels at all this morning on Sky or Freesat. Six Nations in the Bar could be a bit dodgy on Saturday.

I'm sure that I'm not the only owner on here who's presently using Sky Digibox & a satellite dish to receive free to view British TV. Our paying guests will expect this service when they arrive in April. If these are no longer available what is the quickest & cheapest solution to replace on a like for like basis?
Re: ASTRA 2E now moving to station at 28.5 east
Widge most people have a tablet now, so they can hook it up to the TV. If not you will have to lower your rental costs.
EMM, your predictions and past comments have come to fruition. Checked my chum in Spain and yep theirs has gone too.
Should make for a better Summer with no TV.

I was told that BBC channels were being switched to the new satellite today. I have just checked and all BBC channels have lost signal so it looks as if the switch has been made. I am watching the BBC news at the moment via internet and Apple TV link but it will be interesting to see how the reception holds up as more and more people log on and eat into the bandwidth.
Re: ASTRA 2E now moving to station at 28.5 east
I have heard that the ITV/C4 switch over is also only a matter of days away if not sooner.
Will be intereted to see what if anything is left " shopping channels " .
Hope no one rings sky to complain they could lose their Sky connection as well .

You must lower your costs.....not the most practical or even vaguely suggestion........DVBRO wrote:Widge most people have a tablet now, so they can hook it up to the TV. If not you will have to lower your rental costs.
