EDP electric meter box location and EDP limiter

Does anybody know the rules for placing the EDP meter boxes ? It seems that the meter needs to be placed along the public road (for easy access), but does this also apply to older houses? e.g. over 40 years old?
In other words, would I need to move my box - which is now on the outside of my house wall - to a place along the road ? And are there, in Portugal , electric meters which can be read remotely by EDP (which would remove the need to place anything along the road)?

Also, does anybody know about EDP power limiters? Are these by default inside the fuse box in the house, along with the other fuses, or are they located somewhere outside the house, between the EDP line and my meter box? I'm not sure if I have one...?!? But it is compulsory to have one ?? confused...

EDP have an electric meter box that does remote readings. I'm not sure they can be installed everywhere or in just parts of the country.

It is called Inovgrid - Smart Energy Grid.
There is a manual that explains how it works, but it is in portuguese thow.

Concerning the electric meter box, I don't think you need to put it on the outside. You can keep it in the house. EDP requires, if I'm not mistaken, at least one real reading every 6 months so you can send them the reading (phone or web) or you have the new system that sends it remotely or they contact you to arrange day/time to do the reading.

Power limiters did not exist in 40 years old houses. If the systems has been renewed somehow probably you already have it. Usually it is in the fuse box in the house (something like this http://77.91.202.131/mi/full/5163619494 ... Gerin+.jpg). You cannot install a new electric meter box without a power limiter.
I don't think EDP installs a power limiter.

I think new builds and renovations might have to move it to somewhere accessible

We have an old property (1960's) and wanted to increase our limiter to allow for the pool heater. EDP would not do this until we upgraded the fuse box, which we did. They then would not do it until we put the meter outside. They said this could not be done until they had done a site visit to advise on location of meter. After several weeks of trying to get them to visit they refused to give any guidance and said our electrician would know what to do. He did, but by the time he had finished they had a new additional requirement before they would connect up the new meter to the new fuse box. They then turned up to connect it all, but did not bring the necessary cable! This is a very summarised story of several months of frustration dealing with EDP.
