eco/ spider
sorry
It's obvious that a paw in mouth has taken place.
Ellie is to nice a lady to have the sh.ts put up her, and of course is anyone else. If I get a chance I will apologise in person, but at least it can be done on this site. I don't have a sinister bone in my body, the stupid remarks were made in a jest which have obviously caused offence. To all those who took offence I am sorry, to all those who didn't, I still apologise. I now intend to indulge in a little self pity and sob into a double brandy. Bye All.

Have only just 'caught up' with this one. So just a couple of comments from me.
I never did meet with eco/spider. Do not know his identity but dont believe any real harm was intended. I was a little peturbed on a few nights but that was because the village was so quiet and I put it down to my own vivid imagination! But my grateful thanks to those who were concerned. I know I have made some wonderful friends here on cvo.com.
MEMO to Lesley (written by me from Hub!)
We are not cockneys. Though the term is used for many Londoners its a false one!
I am from Bermondsey..Ellie from Peckham side of the Old Kent road.
There is a definite 'distinction' in accent. True cockneys are those born within the sound of Bow bells...'Bromley by Bow'...but folk in that area used to complain that the bells were too soft/quiet..so youd have to be born exceptionally close to be a true cockney!
London is such a vast place now..taking in parts of the home counties...many of recent generation of Essex people have 'stolen' the London accent....and we have Estuary English...
North and West London speak is seen as posher...and there was also a time when true cockneys from the east side would not cross the Thames to the south for fear of contamination!
Me (Ellie) speaking now...of course the London accent is heard all over country now..has been picked up from tv series such as 'fools and horses'
I have kids here in Lincs asking me about words..meanings.
But I love the different accents of our small country..love to hear the dialects..and please God they never disappear!
Of course communication is everything...but dont let us lose our individuality...'vivre le difference' ..long may your accent stay!

Thank Hub for the Memo, I am well and truly put in my place, I love all the accents our country has, although sometimes I don't understand them. I don't know why, with your many posts etc but I just hadn't expected you to have quite such a strong, shall we say, 'London' accent. Don't get me wrong I love it, as I said my parents both came from London. Now my eldest daughter is making her way in the great City too.
Take care

I was amazed to find out that Oscar Wild was gay, that Lional Bart came from whitechapel, that Michael Cain was from the Elephant and Castle, and that Jools Holland was from Deptford, and GASP!!! Ellie is from Peckham, tut tut, how dare they.
I'm from Shoreditch and have a PHD in husbandry so I know a great deal about bull sh.t. Be careful Lesley your daughter might start dropping the odd H!!
