Pilot Strike In Portugal – 13, 24, 26 and 31 Dec and 01 Jan
Strike to affect easyjet flights to and from Portugal
Pilots affiliated with the SPAC pilots' union and employed by the budget airline, easyJet, have stated their intention to stage a series of 24-hour strikes in the coming weeks.
The first work stoppage is scheduled to take place from 00:01 until 23:59 local time on 13 December; other stoppages have been planned for 24, 26 and 31 December, as well as 1 January 2014. Although the strike will affect easyJet operations to and from Portugal, SPAC has stated that there may be limited services transiting through Madeira Airport. It remains unclear whether easyJet will implement contingency plans for the duration of the strike; as such, major disruptions and/or cancellations to flight schedules are possible.
It should be noted that transport strikes in Portugal are frequently announced then cancelled or postponed on an ad hoc basis. Therefore, it is possible that the planned stoppages may be called off in the near-term.

If I was going to strike then, apart from the 13th, these are the dates I'd choose especially as pilots mustn't have any trace of alcohol in their blood before they fly ! Some say I'm cynical

When we flew back a few weeks ago border control were on strike at Faro which meant they were damn slow. We fly EJ Friday and BD which is a VERY busy day. Hope it does not affect us as we have lunch planned on Friday and due to land soon after 9 am, the same on BD.

I'm flying out on Boxing Day and coming back on New Year's eve.

Just wondering if it is more out of Pirtugal rather than into Portugal. I cannot see how to contact EJ other than ring them, which means loads of spondoolicks.

Definitely do Widge, after all we are back Boxing day too and I need some money to help mates feel relaxed too. Know what I mean?
unfortunately I am way too young to ask the state for pension money. I'll have to wait till my AVC kicks in. I might get about £100 a month. Wow, I'll be made.

I believe that it is the Lisbon based pilots for EJ employed in Portugal.
Hopefully it will not affect UK/FARO flights.

Noted EMM. Just received the usual last email about your forthcoming trip so replied to that. No idea if they will reply.
So looking forward to coming out despite only having got home 24 November.

I heard that, trips to Tenerife and the like. Fingers crossed. There could be blizzards and an Icelandic volcano to come.EMM wrote:I believe that it is the Lisbon based pilots for EJ employed in Portugal.

A bit harsh LB --- the trouble is that I can't do the smiley things so it might look a bit abrupt

Well all arrived without any pilot issues. No delays at all.
