Sorry you are wrong, they are just one of those companies that provides you with a box and Sky card based on a phony address.
They have no rights. They are just one of the many companies who offer this service including those in the Algarve.
Just look at their site.
It has a note that effectively says DO NOT CONTACT SKY DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. IF YOU DO THEY WILL SWITCH YOU OFF.
If you think I am wrong and if you have one of their cards call Sky .

Why would anyone phone SKY when the supplier says not to?

If you read their blurb, no matter how dodgey they seem they state they are not doing anything illegal under EU law. If they were, and the fact they are openly advertising on the internet, do you not think SkyBSB would have taken them to court by now? They are using Sky boxes and Sky cards - again, why are SkyBSB not suing them for copyright infringements? It seems a lot more "legal" than streaming on the internet.

Also, if Sky are only allowed to broadcast their UK programs in the UK, how can anyone in the Algarve - bars and private - get them?

EMM had a Sky box for years but since switching to Cabo because of the threat of the diminishing footprint has declared all Sky viewing 'illegal', jealous really that his punters will be watching Sky News & CNN while everyone else's watches what they want,

Personally I have no need to watch UK TV , my life does not rely on it.

As for SkyEurope TV and all the other like it the next few years could be interesting.
Sky are replacing cards with encrypted boxes.
Existing cards are also going to be replaced.
Life s going to get harder for those sellng a UK service outside of its official area.
As for what Sky may or may not do when the new sat goes on line, who knows .

the general theme has been that it's illegal for BBC to broadcast in Europe & for us to watch it, this coming from someone who used to like tuning in to Dr Who but not 'Strictly' if I remember rightly

The BBC/ITV etc have signed international treaties limiting their FREE TO AIR services to the UK.
We have just been lucky so far that the signal overspill reached the Algarve.
There is no question of legallity or othewise involved just a technical issue soon to be resolved.
If as seems more than likely we lose UK TV channels on Freesat, then so be it.
There is more to life than soaps etc.
If the BBC joins ITV in a expanded subscription internet TV ( catch up ) service for customers outside of the UK as is more than likely then the problem is solved.

Will SKY lose this £200m, or part if it when the 'footprint' no longer covers southern europe? Going by the posts I have read here, it will make no difference if you pay subscription or not, if the 'footprint' doesn't reach southern europe then you can't receive Sky.

Last year the expert opinion was that the broadcasters wouldn't make any changes on the run-up to Xmas in case it went pear-shaped.
