A22 Tolls

Post by maccasa »

I obviously missed something - why have the tolls reduced in sept? I normally pay €5.75 for Faro- alcantarilha. In sept made 3 trips and they were ~ €3.50 each

Have you definitely paid for all 3 journeys? Did you use a smaller car?

Thanks for the info on the sheet RH - it sort-of explains why it has reduced - my car has always been classified as a C2 as it has 7 seats, but now appears to be classed as C1, hence the €3.55 charge we paid for the 3 journeys in Sept. BUT it doesn't explain how we had previously been charged ~€5.50 for the same journey :? :?:

I'm confused too. Faro to Alcantarilha (non-stop) should cost 2,55€ for C1 or 4,55€ for C2 but if you are post-paying at a PayShop or Post Office there is an extra fee of 0,26€ + IVA for each journey. I don't see where you get 3,55€ or 5,50€/5,75€ unless you break your journey (or you drive so slowly that the system thinks you've broken your journey :D ). Faro to Lagoa should cost 3,50€ for C1 or 6,25€ for C2.

If you have recently subscribed to a ViaVerde device then I believe that C2 vehicles are automatically charged as C1.

small question if anybody can answer:

if you stick on the 125 (going west) as far as Odiaxere then take the turn to the A22 , join the A22 and turn West towards Vila do Bispo, are you 'past' the last tolling gantry? I think the A22 (for the little bit thats left of it) is toll free from the last junction until the motorway ends. I am thinking of taking a spin up the west coast later this week and don't really want to waste €20 on tolls (thats the minimum TR charge if you use the tolls at all). I find the 125 is fine at this time of year but don't really want to go through Lagos either on this occasion.

anybody been to Vila Nova de Fontanes?

(second question I know :) )

Hi Joey - here's a map of the toll gantries and list of charges:

Toll Gantry Positions

My daughter drove to Sagres a couple of weeks ago and said they were pretty much to the end of the A22 but it looks like you may be able to do as you suggest.

Can anyone tell me if the costs have changed since I did this map? If so, can you please tell me the latest costs?

So you did Richard - and far better than mine :) - perhaps the Mods can post that link into a "Sticky Post" on the main forum page (and a link on the Home page) with a standout heading such as "Here is a Map of Tolls on A22 and Charges".
