Bar with the great view?

Post by madaboutangling »

What is the name of what looks like a bar on the west side of Carvoeiro half way up the hill overlooking the beach? It is just behind the two painted villas and looks like it has a great view? Thanks

The best views are from the terrace of Tapas, Metabixo and Charleys, Rascals is a poor 4th as some of the seats face the vents from the restaurants below them.

Is it O Castelo? A guest house? Might look like a bar? But Joeysoap might be right it could be Rascals? I'll take a wee dander down the town later on in the evening sun and check it out then I'll get back to you :D

Thanks. It looks like Tia Ilda not Martins. The latter gets terrible reviews. What is Tia Ilda like? Great view but?..... Where else is really recommended in the area? We like Onze and Villa Medici.

Tia Ilda, Onze and Villa Medici (those that you mention) are all restaurants, not bars as mentioned in the original question :?

The problem with Tia Ilda is that their prices have risen to put them squarely into the quite expensive category.
They can do this because of the view, not the quality of food.

Take care with tia Ilda, we used to go there all the time for lunch year after year, until we decided to go one evening and booked a table with sea view. when we got the menu the price was almost double that of lunch time, (the menu had a sea view sticker on it) asked the lady on the next table if could look at her menu and it was the normal lunch price!!! We complained, to be told it was FOR THE VIEW :o !! my husband was really annoyed as he was sat with his back to the sea and the lady on the next table (one table in from the edge) had a brilliant view. There were a large family group where the edge of their table had the view, wonder how many of them were paying for a view they didnt have - at least 8 of them. Anyway rant over, but it left a very bad taste (so to speak ), as they were really rude about it too. We also realised the prices on show outside are for if you sit downstairs next to road!! :x

Piggywidden, I can only imagine you were all hungary because I would have immediately walked out as soon as I realised there was a premium for the "sea view". Sounds like if you request a sea view when booking they see it as an opportunity to charge more. However, if you simply turn up and get a sea view by chance they don't charge. Naughty. I think I'll give them a miss when out next month.

I posed the original question and went there 2 weeks ago. It is a great view but the food is average and even more expensive than Villa Medici which is much better. Looks ok for a Pizza but try fish and meat elsewhere.
