EasyJet cabin Baggage size change

I have noticed over recent years how so called 'hand luggage' has got gradually larger. At one time it would be large holdall or a decent sized rucksack. Now there are rigid suitcases with handles and wheels which take up almost half of an overhead locker. Many appear to be larger than even the existing rules allow. Jet2 in particular, seem to be very easy going about this. It seems that passengers are pushing things to the limit in their desire to avoid the hold luggage charge and those with more sensible sized bags are finding space hard to find. On our flights two weeks ago it took an age for all those who wished to use the overhead lockers to eventually stow their bags as they continually found lockers bulging with what can only be described as 'suitcases'.

These problems of baggage size, air fares that are more expensive than published on websites etc are more comparatively better when in the pre-budget no thrills airlines era, when the established carriers more or less colluded with each other to fix the airfares at a certain level. There were bargains but only now and then. When a new low-cost carrier came on the scene they were under-priced by the main airlines as they were seen as a threat.

Nowadays is much better than the old days! I remember paying £400 for a return to flight to Dublin and that was considered a bargain and I didn't need the fulll luggage allowance or maximum cabin baggage room!

Stop thinking conventional airline comfort and service, and think cheap commuter bus or train. A relatively cheap, limited, no frills 2 and a half hour flight to get out to Faro.
Stop whinging about the Easyjets and RyanAirs restrictions and live with it, or if the occasional Rich traveller, (PUN??), pay more and get what you feel you require.

Like many, I whinged about Ryan air's petty restrictions, but now I just play their game, and accept my £30 cheap airline equivalent of a commuters, "strap-hang".
They are efficient, and get me to my destination, and we spend the savings in Carvoeiro.
