Taxis and carseats

I am visiting Carvoeiro soon (cant wait!) with my 9 week old baby and was wondering how it works in Portugal with regard to taxis and carseats ... Do the taxis provide these or will I need to bring my own? If they do provide them I assume I would have to book rather than just going to the taxi rank? Any advice greatly appreciated!

If you pre-book a transfer with one of the reputable transfer companies then you can usually pre-book a baby seat.
These also tend to work out cheaper than regular taxis.

Thanks erichard will have a look at the website. What about taxis once in Carvoeiro? We are staying out of the actual centre so although we will walk into town in the evening we will need to return to the villa in a taxi.

We have been visiting CVO 3-5 times a year for 15 years now, and I have NEVER caught a taxi anywhere

taxi rank is beside smilers smack bank in the centre, compared with other resorts we have stayed in they appear to be plentiful. During the high season queues might form late at night but at most times there always appears to be taxies free.

WHere are you staying? Are you at all familiar with Carvoeiro?

If you don't know CVO, when you are in the square you are at sea level, therefore every way is up - some very steeply up! Ignore our somewhat masocistic moderator, erichard - walk down, taxi up. Taxi rank in at the bottom of the hill and the fare is well worth it.

We always walk back home too. However with a young baby is another matter for many villa locations. Not all however, so best to confirm where the villa is first as people could then advise whether it's a challenging walk. These people are no doubt younger than many of us.

Thanks for all of the advice. Yes we are familiar with Carvoeiro, have been visiting for ten years just love it! The villa is within downhill walking distance, but not uphill hence the taxi back! Thinking I will bring my own carseat and use this in the taxi home, hopefully ths will be ok

Think that sounds sensible as ive never heard of a taxi having a car seat, but never been something we have needed. We are fortunate where we are so when our grandson comes to the villa next year he can go in the buggy.

I wish I could read the minds of those small children who seem to revel in the discomfort and pain their poor parents go through pushing fully laden buggies back up the hills at night. Often mum dressed for the evening is in barefeet her expensive impractical shoes now part of the buggies load.
Do the taxi drivers also control the calcada industry. IE It has to be uneven and slippery .
