I've never ever had a problem using 100's. I suppose its like anything... use a 20 to buy a pack of chewing gum and the person is going to be annoyed. Use a 100 for anything 60-80 euros and I would be very surprised if they even mention it.

I think becasue of prices rising the €100 notes are more widely accepted now, I shouldn't think you would have aproblem considering that most food bills are around that mark for a week's shop and also resturant prices on average for 4 persons is very much around that price also or not far off.
